Help req "Watagans"

Hey guys
A couple of us Gold Coast guys are planning to come down to the Watagans (central coast NSW) for a 4 day stay in December some time.
I last drove the harder tracks inc "Sawpit" around 8 years ago so some local knowledge of the more extreme tracks would be fantastic. (I can faguely remember some tracks out of the campsite)

Pls PM myself or post here if you would be keen to help out. Even a mud map would be great. From memory we used to stay in a large camp ground with a pit toilet.

G'day mate, Dobbo would be your best chance of finding out re tracks etc in the Wattagans, they are only 7 miles from my place but I'm not that interested in going up there, mainly I suppose because of my age LOL, did all that stuff 35 years ago in the Wattagans, vehicles fitted with chains etc anyway cheers Dennis

There has been a lot of tracks closed there after the hand over to NPWS, best you check first.

Hahaha yeah, I try to keep up to date with all the tracks opening and closing etc.

I also have lived here for a while so the mental map's doing okay I suppose. I also keep topo maps just in case I have a brain fart and lose my way (very unlikely).

Re sawpit . . . interesting last I checked (6 months ish), though the stuff you did 8 years ago is overgrown and beyond vehicle access. Sawpit nowadays isn't -that- tough but still a bit of fun.

Closures include (but not limited to) Slippery Rock, Old Slippery Rock. A lot of roads open and close depending on weather and use. Yambo's popular for closure because it ruts out badly, as is prickley ridge road. The scout hall loop road (which is a fun drive when it's wet) is up in arms at the moment. Still open but apparently a 4wd association is looking at leasing the area so that's on the maybe closure.

A lot of the heavier tracks, I can -show- but not drive with you. (Ha ha) My car's just not that capable. Feel free to drop me a PM! More than happy to give you a tour. Can show you some nice(r) campsites too !
