so I got about fixing that gap (which will in turn also better support both sides at the back when the "hatch" is open!

    so I did this...

it fits to the depth of the cab back (doesnt protrude..) and is secured using the seatbelt bolts and the seat strap posts.. I put a strip of bitumin impregnated foam between the plate and capping. I will do the same under the cab when it goes on top.

    sits nicely against the edge...

I made sure it had a lip there for strength...

so it came up looking like this... I like it..

and the paint is starting to come off with the pressure washer - another 6 months and it may be back to green??!

I'm thinking that if I cant get a decent level of paint sorted I may just go without... something like this one.

it appears to be a satin type finish with clear coat... I like it...
Firewall in silver, or maybe galv'ed?

need though to go away from that s3 plastic grill (its disintergrating!)
prefer metal but open to ideas, dont like the fridge shelf s3 ones...

maybe make one up like a series 0.5 (ok s1) '48 type full grill... may look OK?

    suggestions people??

roof back on tonight, although it was fun, (and its been warm here lately)
i got rained on this morning, that didnt bother me, but I had a bird poop from a tree above the ferry waiting line and splatt on the centre seat....

MMM time to reassess! (I think he must've been a big bird!)

so roof is on, I take some photos and post up soon (ish!)

    still tidying "hans" up..

I painted grill in a nice bright silver, this didnt help fill the holes but made it look a bit better!

Fitted the headlight grills off of the LWB...couldnt resist!

general stuff (including a melted coil the other day!! and I mean melted, dripped and fell out of the coil 'shell' ! )

Am thinking about transferring the gearbox/tranfercase and overdrive from the LWB... (from a 6 to a 4?)

is this possible without much fuss?

also I notice that that has an oil cooler "double loop" fitted in front of the radiator, I assume that is for the overdrive, is that correct??

Although the gearbox and trans on "Hans" seem strong, I dislike the "whine" it
    puts out..

Is there a way to replace the rubbers in these S3 wipers or is it the replacement bit or nothing?

Must say Im still enjoying it quite a bit.

    Cheers in advance

Series 3 six and four gearbox and T/C are identical except that the bell housing and gear lever are different. These can be swapped between boxes relatively easily.

Replacing windscreen wiper rubbers? Go to typical Supercheap/Repco/Autobahn. Find the wiper blade pack referenced for Land Rovers. Check profile dimensions. Find one same profile but an inch or two longer. It's a common profile.
Peel silicon/rubber bit from plastic backing, cut in half and slide into original wiper housing.
The reason you don't get the pack directly referenced for Landies is they are short enough that you can't make two from each blade.

That's why it is important for me to work with or establish museums or Heritage Centres.

    Needs it's own thread though.
