My ability to buy faulty goods continues.

I installed a new water pump for the rainwater tank today.

This afternoon, the cooling fan on the motor shattered.

It's lasted less than an hour!

Yes, that would have been a good idea!

I also found it was squealing from within the motor or pump. Dunno which as I turned it off quick smart.

thats bad luck Ron, have a look at an internal pump for a replacement. they not over heat and the water around them keeps them quiet.

It wouldn't matter what I bought, it would still be faulty or fail on first use.

That's the way things are with me.

It's like dog droppings in the backyard. For years my son used to walk to and from his room next to the the garage (in bare feet) and never stood in one - not one!

I can clean up after the dog then turn around and step in one he's just laid. My family cannot believe how often I step in dog crap. They think it's hilarious.

The solution is easy,

a. Get your wife to buy things for you e.g. the pump and Landrover parts.
The down side to this is that then she will control what you buy a little more, this will make her happy but will ruin your free rain you have now.

b.Get your son to buy stuff for you and to clean up the dog do's, it might cost you more as im sure he will want to be paid for it but would be easier than explaining every purchase to Mrs P38 more than likely.
This has only 1 down side and that is he then has amunition for bribery depending on what you want Mrs p38 to know about will depend on how much you will need to pay him to keep his mouth shut.

c. Buy good quality stuff and check it before you buy it with anything you can like the pump. By the way it sounds like the fan must have been hitting the grill and at 3000 odd RPM it doesnt take long to through it out of balance and then have it rattle it self to death.
