Biggest tyre size D2 without chopping body

I wan to increase the lift of the car with higher tyres, to stopp the diffs from scraping etc

What would be the biggest size I can fit without chopping the wheel arch to a disco 2

And is there anything else that I need to change

    thanks

You can go to 33s with a 2" lift, or 31s standard no lift.

we did an experiment on this about a year ago on the D2au forum.
You can fit 32" under a standard D2, 33" under one with 50mm lift.

My '99 D2 TD5 with a 40mm spring lift used to run 265/75R16 (32") BFG Muds and they fitted perfectly, however I also adjusted my steering stops slightly to stop the tyre rubbing on full lock. I now run 285/75R16 (33") Silverstone M117 Sports and they rub very slightly on rear guards at full compression - also adjusted steering stops even more to allow for rubbing at full lock.

IMHO the 265/75R16 is the best size tyre for a 40mm (2") spring lifted D2, not sure about no spring lift though.

Hey Mick are you running lower diff ratios. I have 265/70/16 cooper St at the mo and have noticed a slight reduction in ooomph! I have a 50mm OME lift and want bigger rubber underneath so am going to 265/75/16 next. Worried I'll hate the performance. (DIIV8 Auto)

Yes I run 4.11 diff gears which in theory brings my car back to factory gearing when running 33" tyres. Mine is a manual though and I noticed a huge lag off the lights before I fitted the 4.11's and even more alarming off road in 1st low without the 4.11's.....car would run away and meant I had to be on the brakes a lot.
Talk to Bolts, he is a guy in our club who runs standard gears on his D2 V8 auto with 33" (285/75R16) tyres and he seems happy.....or at least unwilling to change his ratios

Mine is also chipped so that helps me slightly.

See there's my problem. I don't really want to go up to 4.11 on 32's. I think when you go up to 33's the ratio is normal at 14% but 32's are only at 10%.... so 32's are kind of in between but on the tall side. I

    Am I right?

I also think that 265/75-16 is as good as it gets on a 2" lift. The auto seems to sort most of the problems with big tyres and standard gearing.
