						As we are celebrating the Land Rover's 60th Anniversary and also the 50th Anniversary of the Series II, the LROC of Australia (Sydney Branch) has organized a twenty five vehicle display and has been allocated a special location on the corner of Bent and Macquarie Sts. Vehicles on display at the NRMA Motorfest are generally limited to being manufactured before 1980.
In addition to our members vehicles we have participants from other clubs – Pittwater Motor Enthusiasts’ Association, The Old Motoring Club, the Rover Car Club, Baulkham Hills Rural Fire Service and individuals.
The NRMA Motorfest 2008 will be held on Australia Day, Saturday 26 January 2008 in Macquarie and College streets, Sydney.
Come along, say G'day and browse over some really well restored Landies, each one with a unique story behind it.

						Hi Roger,
Our display will be situated in a “pride of place” area at the corner of Bent and Macquarie Streets, diagonally opposite the State Library. If you are an AULRO member drop by and have a talk to other afflicted souls.
Highlights of the display are the first 1948 Land Rover registered in NSW (this was Grenville Motors demonstrator);
“Old Lazarus” a 1949 built 80” that when rebuilt travelled the Canning Stock Route;
a 1950 80” with capstan winch and rear power take-off and belt drive;
a range of 86” and 88” Series 1s from 1954 to 1958 - ute cab, soft and hard tops;
two rare Series 1 Station Wagons in 88” and 107” wheelbases;
four Land Rover Fire Engines – a 1959 Series 2 used by the Snowy Mountains Authority, 2 1959 Series 2 ex NSW Fire Brigade appliances that later served Bush Fire Brigades and one today is still in service with Baulkham Hills Rural Fire Service, and 1 Series 2A 1969 Bush Fire Brigade vehicle retired from service last year.
A range of Series 2As in 88” and 109” and Series 3s including an immaculate original Series 3 Station Wagon.
Not to mention two early Two-Door Range Rovers.
Many of these vehicles have retired from daily use and are registered on the Historic Plate conditional registration system. The 1959 Baulkham Hills fire engine is a working response vehicle.

Yep. I'll be coming to have a look with the family
Xtreme if you're into cars and trucks from the veterans up to the modern classics of the 1970's it is worth a trip into the city.
The cars are usually angle parked on both sides of the street starting on College Street and Park Street down past St Mary's Cathedral then along Macquarie Street to Bent Street near the Mitchell Library. There is quite a diverse collection from little Austin 7's through Rolls Royce, Lancesters, Buicks of the 1930's, 1960's Ford Mustangs to old trucks and apparently a semi trailer bus from mid last century. There are gifts and memorabilia from the NRMA and their historic fleet is also on display.
The Tempe Transport Museum has rides in it's fleet of restored buses + heaps of other things to do an see in the city.

						The NRMA Motorfest is the premier motoring event held in New South Wales and attracts up to half a million visitors each year.
There is a lot to look at - over 1000 vintage and veteran cars, motor bikes, commercial vehicles, caravans, buses, military vehicles and the NRMA display and will take hours to wander through.
The displays on College Street run from the corner of William Street past St. Mary’s Cathedral, into Macquarie Street past The Mint and Barracks, Parliament House, Sydney Hospital, State Library and through to the Conservatorium of Music. Military vehicles are usually in Hyde Park South near the Anzac Memorial. Most of the streets running into Macquarie Street also have displays.
Afterwards you can visit the many other entertainment precincts and stay on and watch the Australia Day fireworks in the evening.
Look at the NRMA Motorfest 2008 web page:
NRMA Motorfest 2008 - NRMA Motoring & Services
You can even take a ride on a bus through the city!
As part of the NRMA Motorfest, a fleet of vintage buses from the Sydney Bus Museum will operate a circular shuttle service through the city, stopping at specially marked stops along George, Alfred, Pitt, Elizabeth, and Hay Streets.
NRMA Careflight are also there. CareFlight sells merchandise and raffle tickets and accepts donations at its stall.
Bob
Sounds like it will be something to see Bob, it's a shame I have guests coming that weekend or I would make the effort to come to Sydney.
Look forward to seeing the pics
