    Pommy Hiclone Test

They're up to 579 posts now, but at least they have done the test.
I'll leave you to check out the results yourself.

I'll give you a clue though.

If the results had verified Hiclone's claims, I think this post would deserve a place in the Technical Chatter forum.

Sorry, I'm not a member either and can't see the pics, so I was relying on the text.
I wouldn't mind seeing the graphs though if someone else can help out.

No association with the test nor the results, just re-posting the graph

I think that graph is just the difference between a stock TD5 and a TD5 with lots of mods. If the Hyclone data is on there the difference is so insignificant it isn't measurable. The real data is here - posted by Watto/Nick:

Now to business, the first dyno run on mine produced a whopping 69.5BHP at the wheels . A short 20 minute interval took place whilst the Hiclones were added, the second run then produced a uplifted result of 70.9BHP. The all important torque figures were unable to be gained as no revometer in either mine or Defenda's car's allowed this be be determined.

The guys who have supplied the Hiclones kindly let me keep them to do a longer term test but in the short sub 20 mile trip back via leafy Surrey I can not notice any difference in my truck after the fitting. If this changes after increased mileage or a couple of days (as per a suggestion way back in the thread) I will of course notify.
I think 1Hp (approx) difference would be a lot less than the error in the Dyno measurement. A chassis Dyno probably measures +/-10Hp at best.

If something is so debatable in terms of gains, any gains must be so small not to worry about.

it's surprising how accurate a chassis dyno can be, having used both engine and chassis versions in the past, but it takes a skilled operator, and multiple runs to eliminate error then you still average the results over a number of runs to make it meaningful.
The variation posted in that thread is well within the normal variation you'd get between runs anyway, so is meaningless unless they went back and ran some baseline runs (sans Hiclone) again.

Basically confirms what we all suspected anyway. I've gained more by turning an air cleaner (K&N ) sideways on a downdraft Webber.
