I have no more Land Rovers

I needed a new vehicle for my business which was going to be a Dual cab defender but due to the unreliable nature of Townsville and Mackay dealers and the constant need to drive hundreds of kilometres to get work done when there is a dealer 5 mins away I have decided to leave the realms of Land Rover for a while, I have come to the conclusion that I cannot rely on the Townsville dealer and know that PAG dont give a rats about north Queensland . So I have said farewell to my beloved D3 and have replaced it with a 2008 Ford Ranger. To think I went to Land Rover in Townsville and got treated like crap by the so called salesman. I still love Land Rovers dearly and will be getting another 300tdi in the years to come as that was the most reliable land rover I have ever owned.

    Seems weird to replace this

    with this

It was going to be a new Dual cab defender but Land Rover North Queensland have ensured that Land Rover sales will stay forever low

Understand the dealer concern but have you had trouble with the D3, or was the prob just getting it serviced?

Our friends have one and it's named "Bouncy" for obvious reasons (after the first ride).

I'm sure it will be reliable though

    Hey Scott

Thats a bit of a bummer

I know exactly what you are saying re the level of service (or should that be dis service)?

These numpties up here have had it so good for so long that "Customer Service" is a forgein concept to them.

I think they feel its for those ppl down South that "have to work hard to keep the people coming in the door"

You'll love the BT50 it pulls like a freight train. One of my mates down South is using his to move his boat from his house to the boat ramp n back. Nothing wrong with that except it has a gross boat n trailer weight of 3.7T

Funnily I was told by Mazda that ford built them and supplied them to Mazda. The ute goes like a bullet, infact we got a Focus at the same time and the Ranger is better off the mark than the focus. The Ranger and the BT are the same vehicle its just that the base model in Ranger has more options standard than the BT and Ford did a better deal on the Land Rover than Mazda did. As a work ute the Ranger is good, Its no Land Rover but I wouldnt call it bouncy as far as a Jap ute is concerned as a mater of fact its quite smooth and comfortable compared to the others and the fuel consumption is amazing. It pulls a loaded trailer 90% of the time and there is always a few hundred kilo in the back give or take and it is already getting around the 8.5-9 k per litre, did a trip up to mission beach and back with no trailer and got 11 k per litre and that is with less than 3000km on the clock.

White D3, As for the getting Land Rovers serviced by the Townsville dealer, I had to argue with the service department that my D3 was a petrol because they were certain that it was a diesel because it was a V6 not a V8, that should set the benchmark with you. Only had a few things wrong with the D3 nothing earth shattering but the fact of the matter was that the D3 had to go as it is not what I would use for a workhorse for the business and it was just sitting there, I was going to get it serviced in Cairns but its just a waste of time the I cant afford these days, the main point is that I would not buy a new one for work because I cant afford to be let down by Land Rover and I have fought them before with my D2 which takes up too much time and energy, as I said PAG doesnt give a rats about us
This mainly comes down to once bitten twice shy

I can comment on the quality of the Townsville LR dealer. I've done a few trips to Queensland, and when I had the Disco 1 there were a couple of occasions when I needed some parts after getting into Townsville. The parts department was utterly useless, and the bloke working there was a complete drip.

That God for the independent Land Rover workshop in Townsville. Good ol' Tim has got me out of trouble a few times now.
