    Relays rear end adventure

She's Ok, a tad upset about her altercation. Apparently a small truck cresting a hill liked the look of her rear and dicided to give it a little kiss.

    More importantly

Poocar is hurt bad, he needs a bit of reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. I fear the mental trauma will last a lifetime after he was forcably shunted from the rear.

So keep them copies of Overlander, they're collectors editions now.

It happened, Thursday afternoon, around 4.45pm, at Charmhaven; before the roundabout just north of the one on sparks Rd and Pacific Highway. I know this, because I knock off at 4.30 and didn't get more than 1km from the workshop. I knew what was gonna happen, so I spose I was prepared. Prepared enough to:
a)As I came over the crest of the hill I put my foot off and on the brake again; I was already breaking. (Ideally this was to point out to the truck speeding towards me that it wasn't just tail lights).
b)Seeeeeened him coming all too quickling in the rear view mirror.
c)Admired the gap between me and the vehicle in front, and surmised it wasn't large enough to pull onto the shoulder from.
d)Put my foot harder on the brake.
    e) Heard the brake lockup of said 6T Isuzu truck.
f)Then realised the actual -sure- reality of the situation.

The -first- thing I thought, after the rather loud popping of the rear window (I was surprised at how loud that was); was 'well, now I'm really going to need to get those LED flush mount lights made up.' I then, stopped myself shaking, pulled over when the traffic got moving, climbed out, called my boss, and said, 'Get down here, because I have -no- idea what I'm doing.'

To my dismay, my lights weren't broken. It'll need a new door, and window, and probably lock assembly. The right hand rear panel, that the door bolts to, needs to be pulled back out. (Never fear both rear windows <inclusive of my aulro sticker> are just fine!) But yes, I bought the Overlander mag, as it bares proof, that my vehicle is a) the finest brown bucket in the Cooma circuit b) was once intact...

I suppose my biggest issue now, is it's up for rego in three weeks...and it aint gonna be fixed!

I have another car...it's a bigger bucket (right now...needs carby) but it still goes, to a point.

But it's my LR...and it's been beat up. The poor thing. I'll be finding out all the insurance and whatnot on Monday. But since I've never been in an accident; what's the deal? Do I contact their insurance company with quotes? Can I choose who repairs my vehicle? I want it fixed right. I dont expect it to be like-new...It wasn't new in the first place. A new spare would be nice, as that copped the brunt of the hit, and I'm not excited to be having to use something that's had that happen as a wheel under any circumstances.

If you are insured just contact your insurance company and let them deal with it.

They will tell you who you can take it to or if like my isurance company tell you to take it to who ever you want to get them to do it.

Most of the time you will need two quotes and if your lucky the same guy will do both of them for you

then they will send out the insurance guy to check it out just before they start work and then bobs your uncle.

Your insurance company will chase them for the money and your home and hosed.

    Cheers

Glad to see you're OK, Relay.
