I concur that they are a very satisfying vehicle to own.

Just be careful guys, remember that they are machines at the end of the day. Don't invest too many emotions in a machine. It's all well and good to "really like" your Land Rover but when you wake up realising that you have just had sex with a Range Rover, its gone way too far.

Sorry, but I'm still not over that....

A fly on the bonnet???

My "real" woman and I sat out the front drinking coffee on the porch and watched some idiot in his nice new falcon pull in to a parking spot next to "wobbly", (this guy had no idea how to drive), he hit one of the side bars, then seemed to decide thet to keep going was his best option(?), there was a lovelly sound of breaking glass, splitting plastic, and grinding metal. i looked over at the missus and smiled, she smiled back.
We enjoyed the coffee.

Later that day i went out with a plastic scraper amd scraped off the white paint.

Cost him a headlight, bumper, and a front quarter!!!

What more can I say??

If you look closely you can still see a smattering of late model ford on the bar.

I hope you aren't proposing I was the perpetrator in that Range Rover pic.

Look I wanted a Landy since my dad was selling those cool yellow Game's back in the late 70's, then finding a shorty soft-top on a girlfriends' granda's farm and wanting to restore it when I was about 20 (never did).

Then I got my D1 back in '99 - loved it.

Had a string of bloody great Jap 4wd's but now very much in love with my D2. The Wrangler fills the spot the shorty never did! and more!

Have to say I've had my fair share of electrical troubles but I hope I'm getting to the end of them...mmm, shuttle valve, ABS sensors...I bought him at "that age" (about 160,000k's) when things needed doing...

But at the end of the day I have a damn comfortable, live-axled 4wd with good manners, heaps of range and some character. Sure there's times I wish I'd bought the GU 4.2 TD that I nearly did - the extra space would be brilliant but it was 10 grand more than 2 Rocks.

And as someone else said, at this stage I'd only consider buying a newer D2 to replace 'im.

How'd ya keep ya cool while watching that. .. Some yoga, fung shui, or maybee just knowing that metal scrapes aint worth the hassel. Excellent personal control, I want what you're on..!

Have to agree, I love my D1.
It is the only car I really drive, now, other than the big Jaguar.
Wives Falcon feels claustrophobic to sit in
However I should be using the XJ6 more, it's on LPG.
