best try and do the deal with your dealer prior to delivery (if possible)
Ok
When the Defender arrives it will be shod with "General Braggers".
Not my tyre of choice.
Has anyone done a deal whereby nearly (showroom to tyre retailer) new tyres can be traded in on a set of superior tyres with a discount?
This is not a "which tyre is best thread"

Most tyre shops would 'trade' the roaded tyres, but as Ray has suggested, the LR dealer would probably have the best scope for reselling them (how many other cars use this type & size?), so you'd like to think doing it that way will get you the better deal $$ wise.
I'd shop it around the volume sellers regardless.
I tried this with my dealer when I bought my 110 last year and they were 0% interested.
I wanted 130 rims and 130 standard tyres, but the only option was to buy them from spare parts and there was no possibility of taking back my alloys and General Grabbers as a trade-back.
Hope you have better luck than me.
Mahn, seeing as 'your' dealer also runs a tyre shop, I would be surprised if some sort of deal could not be arranged.
