There goes my quiet day comment for you then.
there were 5 groups working. from the ADF 4 army and 1 RAAF.
Our credit card bill as of 1500ish today was wait for it...
$200,000.
that covers food, water, gatorade, fuel, gloves vests eye gear, ear gear accomodation in the enoggra accomodation, sandbags, ropes, tarps
what it doesnt cover is our pay for the 4 days, the wear and tear on the gear we took with us or the fuel that was already in the vehicles/gear or what we're going to fill up with from the base after clean up Phone calls on ADF phones.
that only covers our involvement as in, We load a truck I take it to the tip and off load it. it doesnt cover the costs of the guy driving the excavator that then loads it into the chipper or the chipper. The civvies that were attached to dont get a look at that money they get paid elsewhere.
Personally..
I drank 48 bottles of water(500ml), 12 gatorades, had 7 sanger sets, 2 big bags of the brumbys stuff when they dropped round with freebies for us 6 600ml cokes, 4 coffees a few chockie bars that were dolled out, who knows how much cordial, biscuts and the sugar lollies that the sallyman, everyman, chaplin and the sick lame and lazy that were moving around making sure we were watered, fed, sunscreened and keeping tabs on how we were doing..
I turned down countless beer offers and a crate of wine but we still scored the following freebies from the comunity
coffees, cakes, almost a half a pallet of beer all told, lollies countless iced bottles of water, rest in aircons
In return personally, I carted about 50 loads of trees to the chippers tarped something like 12 roofs and carried tarps and gear to dozens more there were 4 other trucks provided by the RAAF working our section +
fireys on chainsaws and roping gear
SFS in a similar setup
4 army blokes on chainsaws
70-100 personal doing the work (counting drivers + coees)

I thought it was funny when on the news you saw a group of defence guys in cams. All were wearing hi-viz vests
Good work though.
Didn't happen without pics
Well done on the cleanup effort. Our street is almost looking normal after you guys went through. My wife came home yesterday to find at least three SES trucks and one army truck in the street, and even though we personally didn't need them as all our damage is carpets and such, she still felt an overwhelming feeling of comfort knowing you guys are out there (probably something to do with having a particularly useless husband).
Hope you get some rest on the Sundown trip.
If there is anything you need a hand with next weekend just let us know.
