    AAARRRRGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

    its not going very well

Started to paint the bonnet and its all falling apart

    preped the bonnet all ok

mixed up the paint all good, went to spray not so good...start with I couldn't get it on even, I put that down to my inexperience and figured it would probably even out as the coats go on....

was getting alot of over spray and I remembered fusion saying he sprayed at around 45psi...I ask ian how do I adjust the pressure he said off the tank just turn the nob in the direction you want to adjust it (marked on the nob) so I did but only a tiny bit as little worried....

the spray is now great its going on perfect nice big pattern and its not building up...(and yes i'm trying to move left to right in a fluid manor) then all of a sudden gun starts coughing and spluttering pebble dashing the bonnet when i'm only half way up......not enough pressure there is me thinking i'm using the air in the tank, and realised that the compressor has not kicked in to top up the tank

now I have pretty patterns over the bonnet.

and to top it off I have had to spray it in the shed as it keeps spitting with rain outside and I can't move the bonnet on my own. The shed is too small and very poorly lit so I think I was just destined to do a crap job

Nah, leave it rough. That way you can stand on the bonnet & your feet won't slip .

Today is probably not the best day for painting as any moisture in the air can affect the finish too (humidity blisters).

sorry you are having problems. Suggest you paint your garbage bin, letter box, chook shed, garden shed and what else as practice seeesions before spraying your bonnet. I once had some paint and used a wrong thinners, that caused it to go lumpy in the spray gun pot. Filter your paint through old stocking is another hint that I have been told.

well there you go part of the problem, was ian told me I wouldn't need the regulator on the gun!! as I can regulate pressure from the tank.......he also forgot to tell me he was guessing that and that he didn't actually know!

if I would of known that I would of asked on here...needless to say i have put the reg on the gun I was told 5 to 6 coats.....well i'm on my 5th and although some bits look OK some parts look like they are wet so probably a tad to much paint.

you think i'm likely to get it back with the 6th and final coat? if there are patches on the bonnet that still look a little wet will these dry and blend in? of will the bonnet always look patchy..
