    I just finished watching the SBS coverage of Day 1 of the Dakar.

    It was interesting to hear the quad turbo diesel engine in the Mitsubishi was a lot quieter than the old petrol engine. It's so quiet that the noise of the stones hitting the underneath of the vehicle almost drowns out the sound of the engine.

    It must be a slightly different design from my 300TDi.

    1973 Series III LWB 1983 - 2006
    1998 300 Tdi Defender Trayback 2006 - often fitted with a Trayon slide-on camper.
