I drive to Medowie a few times a week in peak hour from Mayfield, it takes around 20-25mins, and Sandgate is right next to Mayfield, its not really much of a trip at all.

It is an isolated residential area outside of and to the north of Newcastle - pretty much just housing and housing related infrastructure (schools, pub, golf club, shops etc). Medowie is divided into two by the main road, on one side are rural blocks ~ 1 - 2 acres the other side is large residential blocks ~ 0.5 acres. And there are a few large acreages remnant from the time Medowie was a rural community - orchards & dairy.

Air craft noise from the RAFF base may be a problem at times, it depends upon you. During the time I lived there I can say it never disturbed me. Nevertheless if you do consider Medowie be aware it is only 7 - 8 k from a RAAF base and Newcastle's regional airport.

Further development / growth of Medowie is limited to some extent. It is bounded by a water catchment area land (Grahamstown Dam), the RAAF base land, state forest and a swap so will probably always remain isolated from other residential growth areas in the region.
And thats why most of us who live here like it......... its not going to become another nelson bay.........hopefully

Steer clear of Toronto, and some areas Swansea can be a bit dodgy too .

Move a little way out to a village just off the Putty road, Broke. It would look so good on your letter head. you could name the property "Piston".
