Todays VIP Land Rover Defender Drive

Had the chance today to go and have alook and drive of the new Defender Range. Only 3 types were there, a 110 HCPU, 110 van and a 110 Double cab.
The 130's have not yet arrived in Oz, ( LR Quote ).

I had a drive of the Double cab, on grass, mud, up hills down hills, bit of water, and a sprint over a field, all very nice, much like the 110 SW i drove a few weeks ago, however the 110 DC looked very nice, i did not get to drive the other 2. But the 110 HCPU was the base model and in some yucky green.

I mentioned the 90, and the LR man said LR uk are working on a solution to get the weight up so it can be ADR here, signs are its not too far off, I also asked about the Defenders being banned as per another post on here in 2 years due to new ADR rules, again he said that was not true....

And Mr LR also said ARB have just bought a 110 Dc, to kit out in there lovely toys....

No, nothing in the back just load space, the tie downs, from the UK seat version are there, but thats it, looked ok, very shiny in the back, and very slippy, would need a load liner...

    G'day Folks

I saw those vehicles in Ann st The Valley about 2 weeks ago and I thought that there was a 130 with them? nice to see the 2 door Windowed Hardtop back in the lineup would only be a 2 or 3 seater I think, like the HCPU body.

Weight problems with the 90 is it so light that it out-performs the Oriental Vehicles so they have to load it up like the neddies

    cheers

Hopefully if they do make it heavier the weight will be easily removable. A couple of lead plates on the rear floor perhaps. Buy it, drive it home and remove lead plates and you right. Just like they do with road registered trailbikes throttle stops.
