I don't think that is true. There would be many, many people in the world who have had zero exposure to your god. Probably many without exposure to any god at all.

And you use the existence of evil as part of an argument for the bible. There are plenty of instances in nature where one animal steals food from another, or kills another animal for territory or mating. Animals have a selfish streak, probably borne from survival instincts. But we just call that nature. There is even footage of animals killing other animals just for fun. But we don't label that as evil.

Humans do the same sort of things but suddenly there must be an evil force behind it? IMHO, no, humans are just much better at thinking of themselves and acting on it.

We also have many examples of animals looking after each other demonstrating that co-operation has evolved as a survival technique. Does that mean they are driven by turning to a higher being? Once again humans are just better at it when they want to.

And the old testament seems to have many story lines where god talks to humans, grabs them by the scruff of the neck etc. When did he stop doing this direct, physical one-on-one stuff?

I find many of the arguments just a bit too contrived to be of use.

Ohh good lord, what crock of *****.

Evil = personal responsibility. Humans make choices, not always the best ones, but thats all it is.

I guess what you have said, perhaps more than any other thing, is why I totally reject the christian view.

Theory good, but there's a gap.

I believe in God, in inteligent design.Organised religion has clouded the issue. We as created beings need to have contact with our creator to fit into the big picture. If we can find a way to get intouch we are on the right track. Jesus is suppose to be the answer, but that is such an abstract ,distant path it's almost impossible to find. I'm sure we as people have got the message wrong and messed up the plan.

I find that this is why a lot of people have got no time for Christianity. As soon as they discover that it's about grace (unconditional love) and can't be earned they figure it's way too hard to believe in.

After all our natural way (without this 'faith in Jesus' thing) is to believe we get what we deserve, and we figure that we're all not that bad are we?! Surely we'll pass muster and get through the pearly gates on our own merits, won't we? (that's if this heaven thing is for real anyway)

The cross of Christ that brings an amazing story of sacrifice (for all people!!??) and of undeserved love and grace in action is just way too foolish for a lot of people to take on board. That's pretty understandable.

Intelligent Design ?

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhh hhhhhh

There are holes in it big enough to fly an A380 through ! The ONLY reason it ever "caught on" was the bible bashers in the Yoo Ess Aye wanted to get religion taught in schools as an alternative to Science !

Watch this: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...9062613200911# and then tell me how you can possibly believe there can be any credibility to this so called theory.

Intelligent design... a nice idea to play with but certainly not able to stand up to any scientific scrutiny.
