Whats the accomodation in the local area like for availability? I will be after a powered site for CT. Anyone have any suggestions or should I just turn up hoping for somewhere reasonably close? Have passed through there last year but failed to take notice of any campgrounds etc.

Thanks

JC

Everyone seems to pitch in the area close to the trials track, its part of the deal. no power But. I noticed a camping ground on the road in from the east, but that’s a few KLM before blinman.

I would sagest that it may be better to sort some thing out so that you don’t need power, the camping with everyone else is part of the fun. every one wandering around lifting each others bonnets, comparing Kit and camping setups etc etc.

We went last year, had a ball.

Once you register, the organisers will send you accomodation lists. Will probably be on their website too.

We camped on a station a couple of minutes down the road. Powered sites will be few & far between though. Angora-whatsit as mentioned, not much else.

We had trouble getting water, not much there that's publicly available. Take as much as you can if not staying at Ango.

It's a great event, have fun,

Regards
Max P

The SA land rover club owns the place where we usually camp.
There are many trials set up for the day, kids ride their bikes, some rock crawl event, the local guy has a wick swb something rather with gears so low, turtles were overtaking him.

The main street has good accomadation with showers that you pay a token fee and can use.
There is fuel some 20 k's away.
They do not like land rovers there, go figure!

There are many drives organised too, bring a UHF and portable air comp.
Some are challenging most are not.

Bring the kids too, camp fires allowed and its a really good atmosphere.

in regard to the trials (but not the rock climb), could a stock disco with road tyres be entered ? or are there certain upgrades that would be considered 'necessary' to compete ? ie off road tyres , or lift kit .. etc
