importing parts from the uk

I've a RR TD6 and the turbo has failed . The price for the same part in the UK (converted to AUD) is ~1/4 of the Australian replacement part, however the cost of transport with the likes of DHL is more than the replacement part. Can anyone advise a more cost effective solution?

Not an expert here but I believe (from personal experience) the freight costs from the UK are shocking, I believe importing from the USA is cheaper, check that out!!!

The other option is surface mail. But could take 3 months.

How heavy is it?

I imported 14kg of stuff from UK last month for 90 pounds via Fedex - took 6 days.

The Td6 is a BMW engine so it might be worthwhile checking out German suppliers. Just a thought.

Wouldnt even need a container load, an LCL (loose container load) is only about $120 USD /CBM plus handling/ docs fees etc. You'll get a lot of parts in 1 CBM.
