G'day all!

We are the proud owners (4 days now!) of a pre-loved 2002 110 Defender. At least one previous owner has been on the forums here before - Toby.

Never had a 4WD before, but always wanted one, and have finally been able to get exactly what we wanted. Looking forward to LR ownership (despite what I've read and been told!), and going to some awesome places that have formerly been out of our reach.

Located northside of Brisbane, so plenty of places within easy reach to learn the vehicle, it's abilities and our abilities.

Looking forward to getting to know you guys and gals on the forum, and hopefully in person from time to time.

Quick list of things we've worked out about our Defender:
- lift kit, no idea how much higher than stock, but looks like a fair bit
- EFS shocks rear, Bilstein front. Air-bag inside rear springs.
- Bilstein steering damper
- Warn winch
- Roof rack - Rackmaster Safari
- 127L "Long Ranger" replacement fuel tank
- Chumba door sill rock sliders and crash-bar-thingy under front
- Diff bash guards
- Fake-bead-locker type wheels, with 35" Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ tires, including spare.
- Maxi-drive: diff locks front and rear, axles, CVs
- Gunyah roll-out awning

I'll try to attach a picture of our first day in it... see if it works.

Does anybody have any recommendations for a 4WD training course northside of Brisbane?

Welcome to AULRO and Defender ownership! Looks like a nice Defender.

I'm not sure of any driver training places around Brissy, but I'm sure someone here will know of one. Joining a Land Rover club can be a great way to get experience from trips and training...plus meeting other Landy owners!

If you're interested in a bit of beach driving experience let me know as I'm always up for an excuse to head over to Cooloola National Park and the North Shore. I'm at Noosa so it's a stones throw for me.

To name a few, I second the thought of joining a club, I am a member of the Gold Coast Land Rover club so I can speak for them by saying they have a driver awarness day before you can go one any hardish club runs.

They often include recovery/winching as part of the day. it is abit of a drive to attend there meetings but they are a very active club.
