Hi all,
I've been going through the threads and saving all the photos of people's dump pipes and exhaust routing for my turbos install.I'd like to dock the wing off the sump and route the exhaust on the insite of the chassis.. but how are people routing it at the rear? I'd prefer to have a side exit but when I get to the back It looks like id have to router it under the chassis rail before the rear axle which would defeat the purpose...
Cheers!

that would be good steve, will give me some idea on how we'll do mikes when (if) he gets here. the exhaust on the rangie he got is a bit howdee doodee
. I think we'll have to chase up a wingless sump. Oh and may'be a turbo manifold, it has a custom exhuast type jobby on it, but that bits up to him.
I've got my old 2.5" system (from t/case back) that's lined up for Mike to get him going if he still wants it. Just need to do the front end of things.
I just cut the wing off my sump, removed a bit then tig'd it back on - pretty easy and works great (price is right too).
But I digress...
Here's some photos of my current system. Didn't take any of the dump pipe but there's really only one way to route it down behind the vac pump and in between engine mount and starter.
I put two flange joints in it, one just in front of the gearbox crossmember, and one just before it heads up through the A-arm. Its worked out well as I can easily remove each section separately.

Thanks Steve.
Looks great. I was concerned that I'd get it wrong going over the A-arm and crunch it one day, but you've got it right there.
Was thinking of having the pipe exit out the side at a right angle to the wheel to stop it from filling with mud etc if being pulled out backwards of a bog hole or something.. Have you had this problem? If not, might have set mine up the same as yours.
EDIT: love your mud flap mounts too![]()

Out the side would probably be better, but I just copied the 2.5" one that had been in there from its 200tdi days. I haven't actually had this one seriously offroad since I did the back half in 3", but never had a problem with the old (albeit smaller diameter) one exiting in the same place.
Thanks for the compliment on the mudflap mounts. They are pretty simple with a single bolt attachment to the chassis, and not attached to the guard at all (so won't tear off like they usually do). The "plate" that the rubber attaches to is just an old shelf bracket that I had lying around.
Unfortunately I had to modify the RH one as the LR tank I've got fitted goes under and outside the RH chassis rail so couldn't use the same method.

Steve, do you have any engine bay shots off the exhaust?
Only this older one taken during the conversion showing the fugly (but functional) dump pipe:
Basically there's only one way you can route it down from the turbo, behind the vac pump, then between engine mount and starter. Photo in my previous post shows it from there.
From memory Isuzurover had a good dump pipe piccy in his "Budget Turbo Install" thread.
