Head torque after turboing an na

    Hi all,
I think it remember discussion on this before but can't any info on here.

I'm almost finished turboing my factory na 4bd1. Should I add extra torque to the head bolts? (ie without removing anything just tighten more) I remember something about the turbo heads being clamped down more? Thanks very much in advance. :-)

    Cheers,
    Ramon

    NO.....

there are headbolts for the turbo application and turbo specific head gaskets.

DO NOT try to tighten NA headbolts up to turbo specific headbolt torques. (snappage is on the list of potential failures if you do)

you can quite happily run sane (and even not so sane depending on your definition of sane) boost pressures and fueling on the NA equipment.

generally you will find that most places that supply the bits for the Isuzus simplify their parts system by ditching the NA parts that are replaceable with the turbo bits (headbolts, head gasket) so there is a good chance that you may already have the turbo bolts if you replaced the head bolts.

Haha, nice one. Even if I did have the money, I don't think so. Client of mine had a long trip home in limp mode from Weipa to Cairns.
Was a new 4 door Jeep.
Took the dealer 15 minutes and two fuses to fix.

    That's a crack up!

No warranty roadside assist in FNQ? How far is it from Weipa to Cairns?....... i.e. not just around the block.

Will he update to a new one in a few years time?

    cheers, DL
