I know your rpm will vary depending on setup but Probably should have asked is 2250rpm at 100kph ok for a 4bd1t or is it to high?

So I got a quote on rebuilding my 4l80e, I gotta tell ya these trans guys must be rich as there charging $250 / hour for labour! $3000 for a rebuild that's steep! Knowing that I can buy the master rebuild kit for $700 they obviously can get it for a lot cheaper than me! If I only knew how to rebuild a trans!

    Mine is around 2150.
    2250 is still OK IMO.

As long as theres no metal filings in the trans sump then the valve body will be ok with a wash out in petrol( it leaves no residue). If u have metal filings get another trans. The valve bodies CANT be repaired successfully. Also the cost to replace planetary sets will astound you. Ur main thing to lookout for is where the balls go in the case and valve body. Rest is usually fairly straight forward. Knocking bushes out and fitting new. Clutch pack heights etc. They are a fairly simple trans. They are similar to the old t400 but with a 4th gear. They are a tough transmission. Cut n clean torque converter shouldnt be more than 350 unless they have to replace the lock up clutch plate. Starting to replace electronic components can get costly too. Ive rebuilt and reconditioned (and patched up as well), well over 500 4l60 and 4l60e commy transmissions. Almost as simple as trimatics. Another thing to check for is valve body plate wear, where the balls hammer into the plate. U can reclaim these mostly with "plate savers".

    Cheers Rod

Yea I most prop ably won't tackle a trans rebuild, I will have to pay for it! But as for a controller I was just gonna buy an aftermarket one from the states.
