I figured if I'm going to blow the cash on a turbo with all the trimmings, I may as well get the proper Donaldson canister and filters for the turbocharged engine. They aren't hugely expensive, are readily available, and a snack to fit. They are also an important bit of kit for optimum performance.

pull the filter out and you'll see that the bit that makes all the swirly is attached to the filter itself so long as at the end of the day the air comes onto the filter element in the same way and exits the same way it'll swirl. This swirly bit is the built in hiclone for the 3.9 suzi (dont ask)

I've fitted the plastic swirler/guard onto the other side of the filter on mine. I had to cut the plastic lugs holding it onto the end of the filter to make it fit, otherwise the housing won't close properly. I'll take some photos and post tomorrow if it helps.

refer to your RPS manual for the 6x6 and then use the parts converter cdrom to get the landrover part number.
feed that into the donaldson catalog and youve got the answer...

See how you go with what Dave suggests, I can look them up for you, from my original paperwork. From memory the best price was at Detroit Diesel, they also had the best pricing on boxes of Donaldson oil filters. But as usual, shop around and don't forget to check the best before date on the outer filter.

This is my filter housing / filter mod
Original air inlet blocked off - I used 0.4mm galvanised sheet metal from a local hardware store and some sillicone underneath to seal. ![]() Filter shroud swapped & gaffer-taped in place (I had to cut off the little lugs at the end so the filter would fit) ![]() Filter shroud in housing ![]() Housing stripped to bare metal and repainted ![]() ![]() I don't have a drain point yet, but intend to plumb one in between the snorkel and air filter assembly. Cheers
