G'day Folks

Glad that you made it home Weeds and yes, a BIG "THANKYOU" to Blknight.aus for the services rendered to those Landrover owing folk that you helped, did anyone take the Caravan back to Qld for the owner of the cooked 300tdi Disco from Qld car came into Polo Flats on a tilt tray and followed by the caravan The 2a with the sick clutch slave cylinder was John Summers who drove it from Noosa Qld, not a forum member yet but will soon be one very nice Military Vehicle Collecting Gentleman

For those that saw the open wheeler on the Federal H'way on Monday afternoon, it was a Riley 9 from about 29-32 vintage boat bodied speedster, no windscreen, cable/rod mechanical brakes, with about 23 X 3 1/2inch tyres doing 90kph in the rain down the highway into the Sydney storm (very heavy rain) in the late afternoon/evening "your are a braver man than I am Gunnga Din" ( I have done it on a 50'sBMW motorcycle in full wet weathers)

and that red P38a @ 110 on the bump-stops was truely a sight to behold (young girl with milkshake reclining in passenger's seat) mum hanging on for grim death

doing the second, (Left Steer)tyre on Incisor's Defender @ 90kph climbing up from the Hawksberry River Bridge on the freeway was interesting, 7.00pm in light rain, the rest of the run was uneventful.

Had a Fabulous Easter Weekend @ Cooma, one that I won't forget in a hurry

We won't go into how Inc's 300tdi ran out of fuel @ 3.20am in Wyong

cheers

No real incidents except the water leaks (its a Series 2a!) mentioned in another post. Took two spares, so of course had no tyre trouble.

Stopped for a break yesterday at Cowra, and talked to the driver of a spotless Hillman Hunter. Told me he was coming from a Hillman gathering at Dubbo, and saw four more going the opposite way to me between there and Wellington.

While driving slowly on the Wellington - Dunedoo road (Steel Treks don't really like wet bitumen) slowed to a crawl to avoid a rather damp looking roo trapped between the fences looking for a hole to get off the road - it was midday but very dull.

When I saw the original post in this thread, I imagined that people would post pictures of photogenic places they saw on the way to or from Cooma.

Obviously most people are interpreting "interesting" as in the ancient Chinese curse, "May you always live in interesting times".

In spite of that, I'm going to say that my whole trip up and back was interesting.

I joined Tank, Disco_owner, Ben and Defenderbilby at Moruya, travelled through Deua NP and camped Thursday night in Bendethra Valley. On Friday we drove up the fire trails out of the valley and called in at Tuross Cascades.

So by the time we arrived we had completed two of the organised trips available for participants at Cooma.

That is my idea of an interesting and enjoyable trip.

Working on the principle that it didn't happen without pics, I offer this shot of Disco_owner and Ben checking out Tuross Cascades. Ben has a lot more pics of the trip.

Hey weeds i felt sorry for ya when i got home not only your car playing up but you were stuck with me on the UHF for 6 hours, and it sounds like our plan of heading home before the rain hit cooma paid off.

We left Cooma at 6am and were back in Brisbane at 8:30pm on Monday. The only problem was while we were cruising at 112 km/hr a prime mover over took us. Scarey s**t.

It might have been this guy:
From Media Release Archive - NSW Police Force

· About 5.37am yesterday (Sunday), Mittagong Highway Patrol officers detected a 35-year-old Victorian man driving a B-double north along the Hume Highway at Mittagong, at 155km/h in a 110km/h zone. A suspension notice was issued and the driver was fined $2490.

G'day Scouse

That could be the bloke that rounded me up in the early hours of Thursday morning on the Pacific H'way in Incisor's Deefer & camper trailer @ 120kph and he had a good 20kph on me, loaded B double there were a few incidents like that witnessed by both Muddy/69gs and ourselves, but mostly the traffic was very well behaved until we reentered Qld didn't see any accidents that required ambulance attendence which to me was remarkable, but boy, do you NSW-ites looove your speed cameras on the Pacific H'way and all sign posted too , come to Qld and you will find them hidden in the table drains between the highways, entrapment !!

cheers

We had a MVA on Sunday night with a brand new Rangie on the Hume Highway not too far from Holbrook.

I hope it wasn't anyone we know from here returning home from Cooma. I only learnt about it today and was instantly worried.

Cheers
Chris

Coming out of Canowindra I was closely followed by a B-double that had a different interpretation to mine of "50kph", and following the 100 sign I am sure he had better acceleration, but there is quite a way before it is clear enough to pass - I was very tempted to call him on 40 and say something like "Not so close - I hardly know you", as he looked from the mirror to be about 2m behind me. About 5km out he passed me, partly on a double line, last I saw of him.
