My exhaust fell apart coming into Coonabarabran on the way home, but with a new U-clamp it was all good. Also had brake fade coming down the Toowooma Range with a semi in both lanes, but just managed to slow enough to avoid impact. Had a great weekend overall though, it was great to meet some new faces.

Cheers, Mick.

Had a couple of days at Orient Point near Nowra prior to heading down to Cooma. After towing the boat down to do a spot of fishing noticed that the brake pedal was a bit low so thought I would adjust them - done that a few times before. Under I go and hmmmm no more adjustment so thought, I can live with this until I get home.

Go to move the Red Terror and whoops no pedal. Only got a pedal after a few vigerous pumps. This is 4:45 on Easter Thursday. Off to Culburra where I found the guys at the local mechanics about to close the door and have a pre -Easter bevvy.

I told them my plight and that I had to get to Cooma the next morning and was going over the hump via Nerriga to Braidwood. They then jacked it up and analysed the problem that the cam adjuster had been over adjusted and was in need of realignment. While the shoes were down there was enough meat to get me down to Cooma and then home.

Many thanks to these guys that fixed the problem and allowed us to be able to meet up with Numpty, Numpty's Missus, Bushie and Shorty NSW at Braidwood and then to Cooma where we had a great time.

Got love Landies.

G'day Killer

Glad that you made it home OK, sorry that I didn'y get to have a chat, saw the Game in the photo line-up weren't a lot of Games still in original trim, pity as they were unique, and only having the exhaust come loose made for a good run, when compared with that cooked disco1

cheers

Had a wheel bearing fail on the way down just 3 hours out from home. Got it fixed in Gympie by the Land Rover Spare Parts guy. Big thanks go to them for getting it done, dropping me off at a local motel and calling me up the next morning to collect it at 9:20am (including ordering in parts from out of town).

Rest of the journey a bit rushed but got there fine.

Drove back with Patto110 and Weeds to Canberra before I had to leave them. Interesting radio conversation when you can only hear half of what Patto110 was saying!! You need to see a radio doctor Patto110.

Spent 4 hours in Orange waiting for my mate to turn up at his house so I investigated the air con fault that developed at Cooma. Only speed 3 on the blower. Checked the switch. It seems fine. Looks like the resistor pack is stuffed. Problem with that is I have to degas and remove the a/c unit to get at it! So that's the weekends work lined up.

Thanks go to all those I met at Cooma for their hospitality and it was good to put faces to the names. I look forward to the next time.

Regards, Ray

For those that saw the open wheeler on the Federal H'way on Monday afternoon, it was a Riley 9 from about 29-32 vintage boat bodied speedster, no windscreen, cable/rod mechanical brakes, with about 23 X 3 1/2inch tyres doing 90kph in the rain down the highway into the Sydney storm (very heavy rain) in the late afternoon/evening "your are a braver man than I am Gunnga Din" ( I have done it on a 50'sBMW motorcycle in full wet weathers)

and that red P38a @ 110 on the bump-stops was truely a sight to behold (young girl with milkshake reclining in passenger's seat) mum hanging on for grim death

doing the second, (Left Steer)tyre on Incisor's Defender @ 90kph climbing up from the Hawksberry River Bridge on the freeway was interesting, 7.00pm in light rain, the rest of the run was uneventful.

Had a Fabulous Easter Weekend @ Cooma, one that I won't forget in a hurry

We won't go into how Inc's 300tdi ran out of fuel @ 3.20am in Wyong

cheers
I offered to tow that caravan back but his son was bringing a car down to get it.

I was notified at 1200 my accompany party was leaving and would be connecting with me in approx 1hour on the motorway . My navigator was like a kid full of red cordial and ready for landrover action. As we started going along the motorway a young ferial in a ute with a base ball cap on backwards to save his neck from sunburn and his nose exposed to get sunburnt how he could get a job a christmas leading a sleigh stuck up his finger ----- Was this to tell me a landrover was number 1 ? When we joined up with our partners in crime all went fine until we reached Newcastle express way when the white one came to a hault ,the two occupents got out with abacus and slide rule in hand to caculate what happed to fuel v distance . After much mathmetical reasoning a simple answer was arrived----- WE NEED TO FILL UP . The brown one with empty gerry can set off on a search mission with black box giving directions 1st servio closed then a voice said “do a u turn which the driver did but over some ones drive way with trailer in tow . Listing to the lady (as any man does )in this black box there was turn rights then lefts etc the only problem she didnt take into account red lights. After filling up with fuel and on ourway, back to the stranded vehicle with black box telling the driver where to go landing the occupents in a shoping centre but driver with trailer following could see only one way out ---- over the footpath then the centre island – That kept the lady in the black box quite. In the mean time the stranded vehicle personel decided to phone and let us know “THE LOCAL PLODS “ were enquiring about a stranded white landrover and two supicious characters hanging around it – fueled up and back on route to Cooma.easy for a 300 tdi to bleed the air out.
Some where between Sydney and Goulburn a pantac decided he was going to give the landies a run for their money ,up hill with valves bouncing he was smelling straight petrol fumes – landies winning -----down hill a different story –He took off like a man with a mission – goota beat these landies . After 20 Kls of tit for tat the only way for the landies to get rid of this pesty pantec and with the petrol content of exhaust vapours extreme Achmaed the terrorist decided to designed and engineered a flame thrower so no one would destroy the good name of Landrover getting a beating downhills.
Onward bound and and just short of Marulan the brown ones ignition lamp decided to come on-- decision of group time for bed .Next morning onto Goulburn and a new regulator and brushes were installed in 15min something to be said about Bosch . On the road again and just past Polo flats rd the white one decided its front right tyre had enough ,changed same then onto showground to get our vehicles scrutinized.
Once we got our allocations for Polo flats to set up in AULRO/REMLR area the meet and greet started enabling names to faces plus a lot of new ones . We had to elect the members to various domestic duties Cook no problem (69gs elected KB ) but when it came time to washing up a certin member was lost in action – got to check out showers, toilet ,did you see that set up? Got to investigate that series 1,Got to meet so and so and the list goes on.we wont mention names hey Ho.
Saturday nights at MPC meal ,sweets and entertainment was enjoyed except some missed out on sweets including UNCLE . Think of it this way uncle it was not down the mouth and onto the hips then extra load onto the suicide stick.
Sunday parade what more could be added LANDROVER HEAVEN.
Monday lunchtime left for home with a dirversion through Camberra That place must be the round about capital of Australia and they have the base ball backward capers with fingers in air to tell me landrovers are no1. Thanks Ian for showing us your collection. Onward bound and along YES Newcastle expresway the white one tyre decided to laydown and die changed same.
Somewhere south of Coffs Harbour at a rest area the boys stopped for a break and set up for smoko when a F250 pulled up and asked for a cuppa thinking it was a driver reviver, when the penny dropped one F250 left very embarrsed. Tyre was repaired at Ballina and arrived home 11am.

After fixing the 3 amigoes and replacing front discs and pads before we left the car and trailer ran faultlessly for a couple more kays than Ash,,

and if you are wondering about fuel economy towing around a ton of camper,,

I think it averaged around 5.7 kpl.
that included the pull up from Tumut over the Snowy Highway. Temp guage never moved, auto never missed a shift, I was actually impressed with the auto after that.
