Change over solenoid
On the 3.9 V8 engine which runs on petrol/gas which it is the solenoid that change the fuel source?
Is the one next to the vaporiser?
Inputs appreciated.

There is no one solenoid than can be accurately be described as "a change over solenoid". Gas systems don't use one solenoid for both fuels. Not only that but as I wrote earlier there should be more than one solenoid to allow the gas to flow. Tank lock solenoid/s, main underbonnet gas lock solenoid and converter solenoid, if fitted. Test them all electrically before hatching strange theories.

I have read your inputs appreciate them and do not dispute and further more with gas I am not prepared to come with theories.
My question in this thread is because the problem only appears when I use both fuels.
For 4 weeks I only used gas and never have a problem so I was suspicious that perhaps can be one specific solenoid for the change over.
What you have said in your PM replying my inquire is correct, a process of elimination is the best to get to the source of the problem.
There is one problem and it is that the near gas fitter to my place is 40 km away and work only part time.
Contacting an electrician to do the job will be like an open cheque that I cannot afford.
Doing the job myself with the present health condition it is impossible
I hope that you understand that I did not treated your inputs unrespectful
Thank you again.

Arthur, being a 3.9 you'll probably have the old system where it uses Relays. Relays to cut power to the petrol wires and relays to switch over fuels. The Solenoids are only "taps" to cut off flow. A bad relay that doesn't energise will not open the circuit needed.
Cheers,
Mario
