Lakeside Raceway Touring Car Legends Return

Hi, this is completely off topic (I couldn't see where else to logically post it), but I thought some of you might be interested in seeing this event as it's only on once a year, as far as I know. My family and I went last year and it was fabulous.

Next weekend the old Lakeside Raceway at Dakabin is holding organised races for some of the iconic touring cars from the 60's, 70's and 80's. If you have nothing planned for a day or even half a day, it's worth packing a picnic, some shade cloth and your choice of drink and going to watch.

There is a media release about it at this link:

Cheers

Does anyone know if it was a CAMS sanctioned and controlled event under CAMS regulation? If not, then I might consider digging the historic racer out for a return to action. I (and quite a few others) can't cop the excessive regulation, bureaucracy, and excessive expense added to motor sport by CAMS.

Alas I don't know and I've since thrown out the pamphlets from the raceday.

I would bet parts of my anatomy it is. The cars would all have (Cunfederation Against Motor Sport) log books. IIRC, even the cluby days at Lakeside require the blessing.

The Historic Racing Car Club is holding a practice day at Lakeside on Sunday (22nd Aug). CAMS licence isn't required however you do need a AASA licence that can be purchased for the day for $20. Unfortunately you also have to be a HRCC member.

My Dad is taking his supercharged Lotus Super 7 out for the day.

I believe this weekend is a AASA sanctioned event put on by the HRCC Qld.

And I too want to know what your "Historic Racer" is??????

If you want some low preasure awsome fun racing? Sign up for the sprint serries that Warwick Sporting Car Club puts on, It's a real hoot

Cheers,

Raced at the Shannons meeting last weekend at Morgan Park. It was the first time I had raced on the new section and overall I was pleased with the lay-out.

The new track section started to break up at turn 11 late Sunday a/noon which was surprising and I would expect that the Club will be having close talks with the bitumen contractor.

It's a good track but man-oh-man....is it BUMPY!!
