Hi Vlad
You missed an excellent day, we had 17 cars attend the drive to Condamine Gorge. Meeting at Maccas we headed off to Boonah where we bumped into a local called Dave with his series vehicle who also joined us for the trip. The weather was kind with no rain or low lying cloud to obscure the spectacular vistas. Driving throough the Head and climbing the rang Captain Slow was asked to slow down as the following TD5 Fender was struggling to keep up .Previous high winds led to a lot of tree fall everywhere with a large branch across the approach to Teviot Falls which was flowing. That Sunday was a popular day for charity events and a large group of cyclists with their entourage and Police escort kindly waited for use to clear before proceeding, one of the cyclists only had one leg, to get this point on the hill is a stirlling effort for anyone! so congratulations to you all. ![]() As we approached the turn off for the Gorge a voice resonated from the UHF kindly informing us that the Gorge road was closed for the Saddle and Waddle charity event, you can walk, cycle or ride your horse the length of the road crossing all those creek crossings, when you consider it's winter and the recent rainfull those creeks must have been freezing!!! ![]() Now that the prime objective of the trip was scuppered we head on to the Queen Mary Falls where we had and extended morning tea or early lunch, some chose to walk to the falls whilst many as per normal engaged in conversatons surprisingly about Land Rovers. We headed back to White Swamp and into NSW where Dave the fellow from Boonah suggest we pop to the Mt Barny Lookout, after some steep climbs we were on top of the world with views as far a Towoomba, amazing place for a picnic. Following a bite to eat everyone started to disburse and head for home. We had a total of six cars join us from the AULRO forum, it was geat to meet these guys and hopefully will see them again in the future. I'd like to thank everyone who attended, I had a great time dispite it being a bit chilly, thank you. If you took some photos them please kindly post them for us to enyoy. Wayne |
