My First Defender - 1992 200tdi

Was over studying in the US of A and got back early this year...so the search began for a Defender (in my price range) that was stock, 200 or 300tdi and in as good a condition as possible. After looking for months I found this one at British Off Road (great guys there btw!)...met the list of what I was after. Was a little more than I wanted to spend, but they had just done a whole lot of work to it that would've cost me more if I'd got it done and it has no rust (big plus!). Planing on restoring it to new condition over time - except upgrading a whole lot of things on it.

Here's a photo of it before I picked it up

First day after I got it

Went down to the Blue Mountains two weeks ago for 4wd cold camp FORWD.ORG (it's a weekend that two churches in Sydney organize each year)

And here are a few from a little jaunt I took earlier this week up to Double Island Point.

Will be posting more photos over time as she evolves into my ideal Defender! Planed upgrades so far (as money allows ) in roughly the order I want to do them:

Replace all the seals - about 1/3 of the way there so far.
Soundproofing - I just drove down to Sydney and back from the Sunshine Coast and needless to say, it's jumped up to the top of the list!
Steering guard
Lightforce 240 XGT's
Rock sliders
New AT or MT tires - at the moment thinking about either Cooper or BFG's
Spare tire carrier to take load off of rear door
Safari Snorkel
Disc brakes upgraded all round
Suspension overhaul and lift - thinking ARB atm
Replace the bullbar with a winch one and get a winch
New seats and interior from Exmoor Trim
Roof-rack, roof-tent and ladder
Replace the 120L long-range tank with a more modern design - It's hanging down too low for my liking plus it sloshes around a bit. It's ok, but I think it can be better.
Plus a whole lot of small bits and pieces and eventually a full re-spray (in a few years time - yes I'm planing on keeping it for a while! )

I've had it for almost a month so far and am loving it! Sure there are downsides to a Defender, but the positives far outweigh the negatives...all up it's simply the best 4x4xfar!
