Thanks, that is what I suspected.

When the Isuzu is such a strong motor, and can do 500,000 km in trucks under much greater loads, why have so many of the Army ones had rebuilds at such low kays?

    Thanks Alan

Primarily because the army needs their engines to start first time every time, not just most of the time like your local building contractor requires.

They may not have been rebuilt exactly. A mate who used to work at repco engine reconditioning in the late 90s and early 00s said they had the contract to rebuild the army 4bd1s. They were removed at set intervals, run up on an engine dyno to see if they were still in spec. If they passed they were sent back and re-installed. If they failed they were rebuilt then run in on a dyno before being sent back. The black paint may just be engines that passed the dyno test.

Anyone know why the latest auction got canned one day before it was due to start. Got an e-mail notification from Frontline but no explanation.

Australian frontline machinery auction, ex military land rovers, soon.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
