Davis Performance Landys

Just had my service and rego check done at DPL. Very professional service. Dropped car off day before service date, got a phone call the next morning to discuss any extras needed. Explained it thoroughly and no hidden surprises. Highly recommend. Well known for their ECU upgrades.

I have also found them to be nothing but outstanding and thorough. Tony Asquith is the service man you always wished for with his honesty and upfront nature in saying what needs to be done, what can be done later and what doesn't need to be done. Also the same with modifications, they love it and are not afraid to try if they have time. Their communications are excellent, and they don't mind to lend you a car (at cost). Watch out for Bruce though - ever the salesman for DPL innovations!

Can't say they were brilliant, I have been going there for 5 services plus a couple of repairs in the last 18 months. I can't fault the work being done, good attention to detail but poor diagnosis of obvious symptoms of head gasket failure. had three goes at it but kept replacing parts. Not good when you have a 400k trip home afterwards.
Upgrades and mods I would say spot on, very helpful but the guy steering the wheel is steering another boat I feel.
Spare parts spot on, over night even to where I live.
Another small point that gets me is Bruce could never remember who I was, even when I was waiting for my car to be finnished!
Maybe its a country thing.

I've found the service to be spot on. Up front and no rip offs. Happy to supply second hand parts etc at next to nothing to get you out of trouble. Good long term plans to work through problems. All good!!

I called them about some work (wheel bearings on a Freelander), as soon as I mentioned Freelander, the guy lost interest, I asked for a rough Idea of cost before booking in, they took my details and said they would work out a cost but never called back. I'd prefer to be told "we don't do freelander bearings". Wont be calling them again.

I have heard these guys do a performance upgrade for Disco 3 TDV6. Does anyone have any first hand experience? What level of performance can be achieved and how much does it cost.

Thanks,
Ash

Quoted 10 hours to R&R a gearbox. Given I'm a mechanic myself, I know that it doesn't take this long. Perhaps they were trying to cover themselves for hidden surprised I'm not sure. But this seemed a bit excessive to me.

I however, have heard great things about their work so perhaps with other things they are ok?

On what vehicle? An RRS requires the body be removed to replace the gearbox.

DPL got quoted me $180 for a gasket and seal kit for a D1 transfer case... BMI in Mulgrave (near windsor) only charges $55 for the exact same kit..

i'll steer clear of them thanks!

Are you sure it's exactly the same kit?

One of those mentioned has a reputation for sourcing parts from a certain country with dubious QC standards.
