Canberra Motor Works
G'day all,
I know that there are a couple of members who claim to have had some problem with CMW, but I have had nothing but good experiences. Back in August 08 I had two liners slip in my D2, and elected to replace the engine with a brand new 4.6 (factory built as a RR HSE spare). It developed a rattle which we could not identify, and at 12,000 km CMW decided to pull it to find the rattle (no expense and a loaner car provided). A couple of days later I had a call to come and look at the crankshaft. It was moving axially and was in the process of destroying itself and the block. Ray immediately offered another new replacement, which he sourced and fitted. There was no cost either for the new engine or fitting or the first service subsequently. He also provided a loaner vehicle for the duration. CMW does not operate on back yard rates, but in my experience you get what you pay for. I was exteremly well looked after when things went pear shaped this time, and am happy to recommend CMW to anyone. Cheers, Terry |

Well said Terry - totally agree with you. I don't mind paying dealer rates if I'm getting expert service. That's why I go to CMW as well.
Never had a good experience with Rolfe Classic service dept and have heard that Lennocks are no improvement. When my previous Rangie blew it's engine a few years ago, Rolfe quoted me a replacement price almost as much as the car was worth. Ray at CMW rebuilt and "tweaked" the motor for much, much less. On a couple of occassions when Ray wasn't happy with the outcome of a job, he did the right thing and fixed it at little or no additional cost to me. That is the kind of customer service I appreciate and why I go back. Re their loan cars... well they're not exactly a demo model Rangie or Disco but much better than walking. Actually, I quite enjoy the little "yellow peril" Laser for a change - makes me appreciate the Rangie more when I get it back. The TurboDiesel Camry isn't bad either... for a Camry.Cheers, Paul.

Hi Tomas - CMW are Land Rover specialists but they also do other vehicles. I've seen Ray and his guys working on anything from F series Land Cruisers to Nissan GTR's... mostly Land Rovers and MG's on the occassions I've been there.
Ray drives a Range Rover too, so he shares our pain ![]() Cheers, Paul.
