Chan ge of The Night

Next weeks Burger and Beer night has been changed to Thursday night

There are many and varied reasons behind this but the main being the pub (Bended Elbow) suggested Thursday night - I do need to book a table (tentative numbers) so can you give me an idea whether you can make it on the 13th - Thursday - November.

If Paddy's has good Guiness Pies - the Elbow has excellent burgers and steak sandwiches.

And consider the other advantages of Thursday night - you can bring the family in for a little late night shopping ...............and yes..............you can possibly watch the fights in Dean Street.

So - 6pm - Thursday 13th - at the Bended Elbow.

This suits us, Janet and myself will be there.

This is good.

Very good, one would think.

The Three Musketeers will be there.

Caspar, Sly and The King

There we have the epitome of the World of Land Rover - a Series, a luxury edition of the marque and the workhorse - the 130.

Looking forward to the evening gentlemen - and Sly, beer was meant to be enjoyed - cold, very cold.

And the weekend is shaping up very well Al

Just like to mention, if you are reading this nonsense - and you haven't been met the blokes and ladies - come along next week. It's very relaxed - just Land Rover stuff etc.

Certainly no formalities etc.

That sounds good. Normally don't order our meals until about 7 anyway - so no worries.

See you there.

The booking has been made for Thursday 13th November, 6pm at the Elbow - the table is booked - AULRO.

Even if you can't stop for a meal - just call in for a beer - if you haven't been before you will find the blokes and ladies very friendly so come in and introduce yourselves.

Hope to see you all there.

Hey, that was a great night

Firstly, welcome aboard Thomas - we enjoyed your company and are in awe of the machine you own/drive.

Many of the group may be unaware of the place Brian Haberfield occupied in Land Rover Folklore in the Border Region - and to think you now own that icon - the 200TDi Land Rover Panel Van that Brian treasured so greatly.

Brian passed away twelve months ago. He was a true gentleman and an honor to know.

Thomas, I'm glad you own the Defender and we are looking forward to your continued participation in our journeys to the pub and the bush.

Whacko - guess who else was there.

Yep..... Caspar.

We are all going to Caspar's in the near future for a BBQ and drinks - if you are living on the fringe of this site send me an email and I will send you the dates etc. Caspar won't be in on the dates etc because he wouldn't turn up to his own BBQ so it has to be a surprise. Everyone else - I will send a PM to.

No Troy - you will not be receiving a PM.

Great night - and a date was decided upon for the get together at Ivan's - a day where anyone can turn up put their vehicle up on the hoist, check it out etc - a day devoted to Land Rover Talk - the day.... Saturday December 6.

Yes – I did make it. And I can confirm that I had to pass the “is this really him” test when I walked into the place (thanks Ivan). We did have a good meal and the steak was well worth it. The couple of beers went down well too.

Sorry that we had to go as I had promised to move furniture so we could have the carpets cleaned the following day. I must say that we moved things more than we should of as we decided to change the place a bit and then, as you do, decided that it should go back to what it was previously. Michelle and I did manage a couple of glasses of wine in the process tho.

A BBQ at my place hey? I don’t know if I have a drip tray big enough for all of the oil leaks….. Could give it a go tho as the oil may come in handy. A BBQ could work and (yes) you’d have me cornered – so I would have to stay. And I do have beer on tap in the garage.

I can say up front that I won’t be able to make it to Ivan’s on the 6th December …. I am in Melbourne on the 5th Dec getting extremely drunk with a good mate of mine, helping him come to grips with turning 40. A break from work that I shall really enjoy as it has become a chore in recent months and I am screaming out for a break (as we all are I am sure). After this drinking session - I don’t think I shall be in any state for much until later in the week.
