cold air con but no heat?

Hi,

I get decent cold air with the air con on in my 2000 HSE, but if I turn up the heat on the dual zone climate control, it doesnt get hot. Any sleuths out there know what the cause of this is.

The car temp guage runs at 12 oclock most of the time, and the engine is warm when I try it

I wonder if the heater core has been bypassed. Leaks from the O rings are quite common so bypassing is a possibility.

Check the hoses, I purchase my D2 in summer and didn't check the heater. the hoses had been plugged with some broom handle. Removed that and found the heater leaking. Post that found the associated engine overheating damage. The plugs were right at the end next to the pipes so even when I checked them you couldn't feel anything as it was just like they had pushed the hoses too far onto the pipes.

Easy to tell if your heater core has been bypassed... look at the firewall near the Brake Modulator. If you see a loop in the heater pipes and a couple of holes in the firewall it is a tell-tale sign.

Most likely that the heater core o-rings or core has leaked and the PO was too lazy/cheap to fix. Easy fix if you have patience and sub-$10 o-rings.

Both sides or only one side. If it's only on one side then look at the blend flap servo - although both could be faulty.
