    Another 130 Build thread

After catching up on Stirlsilvers thread I'm sure I'm not worthy to post in here but I'll document the build up of my new 130 in one place anyway rather than spraying bits and pieces all over the place like I did with the D3.

    The starting point:

The dealer fitted the tray for me, in NSW you cannot get the vehicle registered without the weighbridge ticket which includes the fitted tray. I made some brackets that the dealer used to mount the tray but It needs to come off and be painted black. The tray was $450.00 second hand from a 130 owner in Toowomba, Initially I wasnt sure about it because its only about 1800 x 1600 including the tyre space but it's growing on me

This afternoon's little task was fitting the towbar, the electrics might be here from the UK tomorrow, part number LR005920.

The rest of a frustrating evening was spent attempting to coax the radio to take a bluetooth upgrade without success, my thoughts on why are in this thread here: Alpine CDE-133BT headunit firmware update

After a week or so of nights in the garage I've made some more progress on my list.

Bullbar fitted and number plates swapped

Factory wiring loom fitted for the trailer lights part LR005920

A tip from Beery - use these to hold the socket in place unless you have triple articulated fingers...

I still need to finish the wiring and fit the tekonsha brake controller. A bit of rewiring was necessary for the trailer loom. The white wire was terminated and sealed up (fog lights) and the two rear clearance light wires were connected to the appropriate pin. The loom has a convenient +12v feed and a reverse feed on a separate plug so I ran the +12v to the reverse pin on the plug to charge the breakaway battery on the trailer and ran a feed for the electric brakes on pin5. These still need to be run into the cab.

I've also fitted some corner protectors to the seat boxes.

Got the brake controller installed this afternoon.

The brake wire and the sense from the loom are run in split conduit crossing over behind the gearbox and picking up a 12v feed from the battery. They go into the cab via the grommet under the heater tap bracket.

Another shot showing the bracket loosened for access

The wires are easily accessed behind the dash by opening the hatch in the bottom of the dash.

I added a fuse box behind the dash for future expansions. The fuse box is secured inside the dash with velcro tape so it is easy to remove for service.

Running the wires across to the brake controller was done by inserting an aluminium filler rod through the slot above where the brake controller is fitted and pulling the wires through with the central part of the dash removed

The finished product, the bracket is secured with double sided body moulding tape.

Interesting and very tidy install . Havent had a chance to look at how I am going to wire up the accessories on my new 130 and luckily just saw your thread.

Another Couple of small mods. I fitted one of the LED work lights that I bought from Zapt in December on the tray. Works pretty well too

Fitted on the headboard. I ran the power from the white wire on the trailer wiring loom which is for the rear fog lamp. This uses a circuit and switch that would otherwise be wasted as my tray does not have a rear fog light fitted (and they are stupid anyway), thankfully all those bloody Hyundai excels that people used to not realise had one have gone to the recyclers. /rant off

The only downside is that the work light only works with the headlights on but I can live with that.

I bought an alloy toolbox, $200.00 from Total Tools, this will be the interim "boot" until I sort out what I'm going to do with the tray long term.

Some more done this week, last Monday we ducked up to Sydney and picked up the console I ordered. I finished fitting it this morning. The antenna lead runs from the bullbar under the bonnet and into the grommet behind the passenger side dash. from there antenna and power are run up the LH A pillar and above the roof lining.

From the rear showing the LED lights. The design means that the mounting screws are under the front interior light and at the rear. You need to have something at the back to access the screws.
