    How To: Install Heated seat switches into D2

    This is without a doubt the easiest thing I've ever done, bar none...




    Okay, first off have a look under the rear of the seat and see if they have the heater elements. (Note the connector and 2 wires running off to each cushion.)

    If you do? Now its the tricky part you need to track down the following (Try PMing Sniegy he might be able to track some down)

    * Left Heated Seat Switch (LR part number YUG102430)
    * Right Heated Seat Switch (LR Part number YUG102440)
    * Heated Seat Switch Cover Plate (LR part number BTR3655LNF)

    Yes the left and right switches are different, which i'll explain why later.





    Pull off the front bezel and undo the 4x screws





    Pull the switch plate out and locate the 2 connectors (which maybe tucked up inside the console)





    Connect the switches, each switch is keyed differently so each switch will only go onto the correct connector.

    Turn ignition to position 2 and turn on heated seat switches (they should light orange)





    Now that they have tested okay, remove the connectors off the switches and drop the switches into the switch plate (note the switches are also keyed differently and hence can only go into the correct hole) and reconnect the connectors.





    Push the switch plate back in place and do up the screws





    Push the front bezel on and voila' you are done.

    Seriously it took less than 5 minutes to do, all up

    I have a D1 but I always wondered what the extra switch holes were for behind the switch plate. Although somehow I doubt the base model D1 seats have the heaters installed

    Grumpy Bastard, thanks for the tip, I am doing mine this weekend but it is an HSE so tracking doen the timber console piece was a nightmare, thanks Sniegy, saved me $1200! Just one point Grumpy, I think you have fitted your window swithes upside down............
    My switches should arrive today/tomorrow and I have araldited the plastic back plate to the timber in place of the special rivets that are only fixed shallowly into the timber piece. Hopefully the super strong araldite will do the trick.There are also a couple of clips that hold the timber in place which were riveted but as i couldn't get the new rivets I have araldited tro M4 studs in so I can run a not down onto the clips. A little more fiddly if you have the timber console but it looks like I have nailed it, will let you know how it turns out with some pictures.
    Next challenge is to change the globes in the AC control unit......... could be interesting!

    Thanks grumpy,

    I have ordered the switches and plate, all three are x england 23.85 for the switches and 15.95 for the plate.
    Can't wait to have a warm bum during the colder days.

    is there any ideas as to which discos have the base wiring?

    I have an 02 TD5 Auto non sls. Would it have it?

    Heated seats
    The heated seat system is available on both manual seats and electric seats. The electrical sub-system consists of
    the following components:

    The seat heater switches supply an ignition feed to either the temperature control unit (vehicles with electric seats) or
    directly to the seat heater elements (vehicles with manual seats). When a seat heater switch is operated, current flows
    to the seat heater elements causing them to heat the seat.
