Big thanks to adm333 for coming around today with his p38 today so I could play with his suspension setup and look at his air suspesnion hacking kit. due to a SNAFU on my side of things the kit Id hoped to set him up with didnt work out but that was a simple mistake, Id grabbed 1/4 inch tube instead of 6mm and the 1/4 inch just doesnt go into the fittings properly. so...
After some engibeering this afternoon after he left I've got a plan... hopefully through liasons with gromit I will be able to put together a parts list that will go into a kit that will allow all EAS eqiped p38 rover owners to get some more functionality out of their vehicles OEM equipment and bypass the compressor if it goes XX
Im planning on a few different setups they are
EAS Upgrade Kit 1 (objectives)
- provide a pressure gauge to assist in suspension diagnostics
- provide a jack that will allow the EAS system to be used to inflate tyres
- provide a jack that can be used to supply air to the EAS in the event of compressor failure
Fortunately the one jack can do both jobs
EAS upgrade kit 1 v 2(objectives)
- provide a pressure gauge to assist in suspension diagnostics
- provide a jack that will allow the EAS system to be used to inflate tyres
- provide a jack that can be used to supply air to the EAS in the event of compressor failure
- reduct the compresors air inlet so that it draws air through the engine air filter as opposed to the little sponge filter it has
- include a shreader valve fitting so that the EAS can be inflated from a service station tyre inflation station
EAS upgrade kit 2 (objectives)
- as per EAS Kit 1 v 1
- relocate aircompressor to passanger space and provide elevated filtered air intake
- provide air jacks under the bonnet, in the rear load space and under the fuel cap door
I will be working my way through the setups as they are listed but work is more than likely going to throw me a curve ball and prevent this from happening in a timely manner.
IF you have any suggestions as to what you would like to see done with the kit drop a line here.
Thanks to adm333 for giving me a dead EAS ECU box with the plug on it... I plan to make a quick manual bypass box out of it which will go into my box o rover tricks and if I can source the part number of the plug on the box I will be making the details of how to make one and the gear you need public to the forum.
from the time with adm333's rangie I know how Im doing the MK1 v1 and v2 kits and how Im routing lines and everything else. In his case Im mounting everything into the cruise control actuator bracket.
IF you happen to have an EAS equiped vehicle that you dont mind me poking around with for about an hour or so while I work out whats what and wheres where for placing the accessories IT would be appreciated.
