Yeah I blew too many C&P's and the choice of gearing was a bit better.

She's ok for having just celebrated her 32nd birthday. It's taken 3 years to get to this point. Still have to finish off the interior etc

Goes well with the injection etc.

I might have to start a thread in the members rides section.

Thomas

Edit. 96 2.8 Turbo Deisel TI GQ pootrol that had been BBQ'ed. They came with 4.6:1 Ratios in the diff.

Do you have any dramas with the rear drive shaft as pootrol are not offset as Rover/Toyota.? That thing would pull a house down with 4.6:1

Not really, the rear is smooth as. See how long the Uni's last though.
I pay a lot of attention to greasing them often. I had more probs with the front. I had a custom double cardon shaft in the front and it was crap. I have gone to a shortened Rangie front shaft.

The gearing is nut's. Those pics are from the first time i drove it off road. With the diffs a ZF auto and the lowest factory LT230 it just crawls up things.

sorry for the Hijack

No probs with hyjack. That is what this tread is for You must have a Defender LT230 in it. Imagine what it would be like with Maxi creeper gears. Nice combination. I like the ZF autos.

I dunno what it is. I got it when I got the auto.

The auto is very nice. Plenty of engine braking downhill and so much control going up with the gearing.

And it will still pull 110km/h on the freeway. I also got 12.5 l/100kms going down to cooma. That was at 90km/h due to the front tailshaft vibrations.

When i got my original pootrol diffs the dickhead wreckers gave me one 4.3 and one 3.9 ratio diff and said they were both 4.1's. Needless to say the transfer wasnt real happy about its new roomates and left with a bang.

They also gave me a front diff housing that was so bent I had to cut the tube off to geth the axle out.

May be they ment they averaged 4.11 They dont know pootrols is my guess. Must have had you stuffed what they had done there. 12.5l/100 is bloody GOOD

They knew pootrols alright just thought they could get one past. They succeeded, it would have cost me more than they were worth to take them too court.
