Although looking a little worn out, this Land Rover is surprisingly untouched. The owner has however installed a Nissan 4 cyl diesel but has not mucked around with anything else. He (and the Land Rover) are originally from the eastern states and the trailer was bought at auction in Queensland.

Went exploring out bush yesterday and found a few interesting items including a Series 3 GS. The owner uses it around town as a daily driver. Photo of data plates was too blurry to get numbers etc. I will re visit it again in the future to obtain details.

Bren Gun Carrier tracks.

Heres some for Wayne.

The Inter that I posted some time ago has now been sold. It is apparently off to Busselton (town 2.5 hrs south of Perth).

Discovered sitting in a farm paddock. Austin Champ + 4 others for sale.

Check out the 'for sale' section.

In my ignorance, shouldn't these 2 be joined together without the tractor?

Is that steel plateing on the wheels of the yellow tractor a balistic thing?

Hi there

Take note of the driving position on the crane-tractor - very ugly indeed.

I suspect in that position it would make it easy to jump ship if it turned to Sh-t.

Many thanks

Wayne

G'day Wayne.

I agree with your statement. I would like to bale out quick smart if anything did go wrong. On the other hand, I cannot see where the manufacturer could have located the turntable other than the driving position.

Here is a photo of the same type of crane during WW2. Note the driving position is on the side.

This photo is of a genuine ex army/RAAF crane. It is located just south of Perth. The driving position on this type is on the LHS.

G'day Diana

Yes you are correct in assuming that the Blitz truck and the crane should be one. I found this photo to confirm your suspicion.
Note that the crane boom has been turned upside down. This is probably to give it extra height for loading and unloading cargo.

G'day easo

The plate is made of quite thick steel, probably half inch. I presume it has been installed to protect the tyres from sharp objects etc. I don't think it has anything to do with balistics protection as I have seen this type of conversion on other 'yard cranes' over the years.
