Spotted In My Travels.

I thought I would post some photos of ex army types I have recently spotted in my travels.

Toyota Hiace spotted at Bunnings.



Sperry Searchlight generator.







Army Museum of WAs latest aquisition. Dodge 114 Ceremonial truck and 25pdr trailer. Note tail lights on trailer.







Series 3 GS.



No. 5 trailer in suburban Perth. In daily use by handyman. His father bought it from disposals way back in the 70's and has remained in the family since.

Just you wait Chief, one day you will look back at that photo and wish you had asked the owner if he wanted to sell it to you. It will be worth at least half a squillion $s in a couple of decades....oh, who am I kidding....your right, it shouldn't be there.

Yeah! just try and find an original Ex-Military VW Kombi like the ones that went to SVN or a HK-T-G Holden that went, all gone or hidden on farms.

I spotted this ex MOD Land Rover 110 at Fremantle Port today. It was parked in the 'pick-up' area after being unloaded recently. Not sure who owns it but it should be an interesting addition to the local ex mil population.





This ADF Scania truck was spotted at a local crane supplier. It may have been there for installation or service on Hiab crane (mounted rear of cab).

G'day Garry

What are the telltale signs (apart from the paint colour) that it may be Navy? Were the Navy Landys ex civilian? I did notice that the bottom section of the front guard panel is painted black. I have seen this on a couple of Land Rovers.

Apart from colour, nothing really distinguishes them as they were basically civilian spec vehicles.

Basically the colour - and safari roof.

Navy used some army (mil) spec GS type vehicles in operational roles such as Mine Clearance teams but most were normal civilan spec vehicles sourced through standard procurement processes - most were delivered to NSC Zetland (where some Leyland vehicles were being built) though some were even delivered through the local landy dealer - happened at least once I know of in Nowra for a car being send to either NAS Nowra or to the College at Creswell.

On the down side, Navy also used swb Landcruisers and Lancruiser Utes and Ford Broncos.
