At the moment No.5 trailers in good condition go on e-bay for $1000 to $1500 which is a lot really. I was going to get one with a bit of rust in the floor in need of some repairs for $400, but an ambulance came up

Hello

I came across this No.5 ex army trailer today. "So what" you say! Well this one has been painted what looks to be 'RAAF yellow'. You can see it under the Drab Olive.

Question - Is it ex airforce or something else?

a photo from the back would help us confirm RAAF use, but most airfield vehicles were painted overall yellow.

The hubs confirm original Army contract.

The tie-down loops on the top of each corner and holes about a third of the way in on the top of the front and rear gunwales are interesting differences, could this have had an "Office" canopy?

parts

Just swapped a series 3 shortie for a No 5 trailer set up for going bush here in PNG. Need some help in finding a new lunette ring and mounting nuts as parts here for anything are hard to come by. Anybody know where I can look for this and other bits and pieces? Some help on the removal and service of the lunette rings and wheel hubs on the No 5 would be appreciated also please.
Thanks
