Workshop Variant

Could this be an old Workshop vehicle? - or one that has just been converted into a ute?

G'day Sam,

From whwt you can see in the photo it appears to be GS (General Service) Ex Army Series 2A, tub removed and a tray fitted.

ex army..... maybe, but i dont know why you'd remove the 2nd tank, and despite how easy it may be,i dont think too many people would bother swapping bits to get a cab chassis

Workshop truck had 2 tanks as well as the GS. Removing one is usually because it has rusted out

G'day All, I'm sure this question has been asked before re it's authenticity, apart from the obvious (front guards etc) I'm fairly certain that it has a S2A ex-mil chassis it's a bit hard to tell poor pix, but in the pic taken from the lhs rear I'm certain I can see the spring mount rear springs (2 holes).
If it was indeed (whole vehicle) a ex mil S2A, the chassis number will give it away and also the nom/plate. IMHO I'm certain that it wasn't a wksp vehicle as the body doesn't have the cut out for the stowage box across the top of the chassis under the cab, also missing lhs fuel tank + no filler lhs either, it's had an engine conversion and god only knows what else, one thing it has come down in price as it was 4 sale B4 at $5,000, a lot of toil would be needed to put it back to it's original state, but thats up to the individual and what you want the vehicle for, cheers Dennis
PS the chassis number didn't match anything either ...

G'day Sam Ball

There is a possibility that it is Ex Military, BUT, it was probably a GS, and has had the rear tub removed and a civilian Ute cab and panel fitted, and a steel dropside fitted, also has a Holden Motor, and a bench seat with a console fitted, would take a fair bit to return it to Military spec, but, if you only want a series 2a for general use and not a Military one in particular, that might be worth haggling over

cheers

Yeah, have been looking at that Perth one, a bit far though - I'm sure one will come up closer to Home.

Did drive to Yass for my Stage 1, and that was a drama - nearly lost it on the trailer in the first 2k's going down a hill - trailer started to sway, and didn't think I was going to get it back, had to sit on 70 -80 k's the whole way Home.

trailering is no fun, i tried that, not on the list of things to do again in a hurry.

at least you know of two 'going' perth vehicles, thanks to Stuart the WA landrover 'finder'

I guess if the price is too much thats fair enough, but the first one is on gas, so the fuel shouldn;'t be a drama, don;t know about the second one.
