Ok, a few small updates and the museums page (which is a work in progress) added to the data & Reference page.

Added a page of the photos that we have of the AWM's land rovers to the museums page, and keep an eye out for 80's photos of Series 3's in service, as well as perenties in East Timor

Australian Army Series 1 Land Rover

Hi Phoenix,
A mate of mine has the AMF test report of the Rolls Royce B40 powered 81 inch Series 1 Land Rover as tested by the Australian Army in the early 50's. It contains a few photographs of the vehicle during the test and other interesting information. I'll see if I can borrow it off him and scan it in so you can put it in the Series 1 section. Interestingly it makes reference to a Holden engine conversion in an 80" Series 1 but contains no further information on that particular vehicle which is possibly the subject of another report.
A copy of these documents appears to be kept in the National Archives in Melbourne. See here;

Regards,
Ian

Ian, a copy of that would be excellent. I think the copy of another vehicle (jeep?) evaluated online can be found on one of the enthusiasts websites as well.

It would also be interesting to see information on the perentie project's competitors one day as well.

Ok, some changes to the REMLR navigation (for the last time in a while I hope).

New is a page called fleet information, containing information on the fleet such as numbers, arn's etc etc etc. all old pages which were in the technical section.

a renamed section is restoration information which had information on restorations, such as emei';s, ces documents, hints on canopies, tyre, trailers, parading your vehicle etc. again, all existing pages.

Both pages will be added to in the near future.

Also added is 4 pages of photographs and information from the Army Museum Bandiana (it is no longer the RACT museum by the way)

Wow, fantastic photos Phoenix. Just spent the last hour checking them out.

Reference photos of Vietnam are worth their weight in gold.

I was suprised to see so many Land Rovers with doors removed and with machine guns mounted in the tub.
You can see where the genesis of the LRPV's began. Throw on a ROPS bar, side steps and spare tyre mounts and there you have it, LRPV jr.

G'day TommyK

All Doors and Tailgates were removed shortly after the ambush at Dat Do (67)as that was I think a contributing factor, (time and space to open doors) you will also see in some pics and film troops sitting on the tops of the rear body or at least on seats with their weapons in their lap, (over the side Diver style)

At about the same time or a little later, came the directive to replace front outer guard panels with the trimed ones.

cheers

Thanks for putting the pictures on REMLR Phoenix. Just on that M48, I spoke to my dad about it he mentioned that it was an American tank that they were repairing and subsequently returning to the Americans (which is why they are loading it onto the tank transporter). As for the Kangaroo painted on the turret apparently they did this to have dig at the Americans.
