Oh wow. I didn't realise that these had been released to Joe public. Give me nightmares as a cadet those things, and there is still training available on those exact sets.

Yeah, I had to deal with them at cadets as well. When they worked, they were excellent, when they didn't, painfull!! Pity i'm not in cadets any more, I just got 2 brand new units of the vehicle antennas (4.5m ground to tip mounted on the vehicle) that can work with the 77 set, would have been great for a base radio.

I've not seen many Australian units anywhere specifically, but they have been available out of the US for a while.

I know of a bigger about the size of a narrow esky, a mate of mine had it, he died and its still in the shed, I know his wife when she cleans up will call me to take his junk away so I am just biding my time, dont know what it is its more complicated then the set shown and is Viet nam era not sure if vehicle mounted or a base set, let u know when I get hold of it. There also a dirty great field base antannae to go with it, he converted to mains power and we messed around with it for years.

Pretty sure that 'tooles' in Wodonga Vic was selling 77 sets for a about 500 buck a few years ago. I could be wrong!

No, I meant the 106 which is a very large radio. 160 is a vehicle mounted 77 set.

77 set on EBay

Hi guys, there's a 77 set on Ebay in the Militaria section under military surplus, its missing the outer case and battery box but it might be able to be doctored up for display etc.

cheers steve.
