Hi all,
couple more pics. I've got the new crossmember all tacked on. Had to fit the old tailgate mounts as new ones didn't line up. Fitted my recently aquired jerry can holders just for a visual cheers, bill.

good work, for a minute there i thought you weren;t going to put on those lifting hooks.
how did you go with the wiring did you make up a new loom or is that when to get to the front end?
Would make for a good tutorial if you end up using the trailer wiring.
I'll have to pull my finger out and take some of mine, although it isn;t a complete pull down, it doesn;t need it, have done the rear oil seals and a shackle bush so far, still have to grind down the surface rust. the rest of the rear end is in surprisingly good nick, now to find some lifting hooks and a ffr tailgate!

G'day john,
nowhere near the wiring stage yet, the tub was only on there to set up the crossmember. still have to hire a real welder to finish weld everything (as trusty as my little gasless mig is i don't think i'd feel comfortable towing anything with it's work ) i have a boilermaker mate who said it would be pretty easy to make up those lifting tongues. let me know if you want me to put him to the test. i'm also a fitter and turner so i could take charge of the hole and pin placement. might be worth knocking up a few if anyone else is chasing some?
cheers, bill

Thats an interesting idea, to date i haven;t been able to 'locate' any, I am still awaiting the 'other s3 ' that I have acquired/been given. I think it has all the bits on it, i thought of trying to duplicate some of the fittings, the tool holders I have, look fairly easy to make, but my skills in areas of metal fabrication are fairly basic ( translated rough as guts)
I have a set of bows that i picked up for a chap, have the front bits, but not the back bows so am going to take a sample into the local engineers and see if they can do some bending for me.

so to answer yours , yes i am interested.

ok, another update and a few more pics. chassis is finished and painted, springs and diffs attached, swivel housings together (minus hubs-wrong seals sent) now working on brakes. flex hoses were also too short. is there a special part no. for army ones? cheers, bill.

Top work Bill It's always encouraging to see quality restoration work on old Landys.

The crossmember that you have plated..was it rusted out or just 'beaten up'?

Keep the pix coming.

Stuart
