Daisy and Onslow

I suppose that it is about time that I exposed my toys to the world in general, especially considering that I have had one of them since 2001, but the second one is a new addition joining the family on the 24th May this year. My beloved spice reckons that these two landies are both "tough old Poms" and with that in mind she has named them 'Daisy' and 'Onslow' after the two likeable characters in "Keeping up appearances"! (And I might add she has also renamed the family Disco 'Hyacinth').
The gunbuggy (Onslow - 63 S2a ARN 112 722) was purchased from Sydney in 2001 having sat in a paddock exposed to the elements and some minor pilfering since its discharge from the army in 1997, and was a pretty sad looking example of the marque. Its engine was seized and had been cannibalised, but the chassis was pretty clean for its age, and a spare motor was thrown in to sweeten the deal. This vehicle served in SVN with various Bns. and was fitted with an M60 GPMG. (See photo in REMLR - landrovers in Vietnam AWM section)
Since then it has been stripped down completely, rubbed back, sandblasted and reassembled to a pretty lenient time frame to arrive at the stage it is at at the moment. I have had to remanufacture a number of unavailable spare parts such as guard fronts and gardening tool clamps as well as a number of smaller ADE designed bits. I have rebuilt the original engine (rebored and sleeved) and hopefully it should fire up in the pretty near future.
Daisy, on the other hand was purchased locally recently after a lot of the ground work had already been carried out and about all I have to do is clean up a couple of bits, manufacture some canopy bows and caps and fit the new canopy. Daisy is a 64 S2a 88" with the ARN 113 251 and as chance would have it she did most of her service in JTC transport at Canungra, so she and I would have first met way back in about 1968 or so.
She does need a couple of new seats but now the blinkers, horn and a few other ancilliaries are working again she should get rego'd within a week or so, and Onslow might get his seats back later on.
A couple of shots of 'Onslow'

Note 'Hyacinth' in the background.

Family portrait includes 'Onslow', 'Daisy'

Daisy's engine bay, note bodgy carby/air cleaner system. She is also fitted with power brakes but I feel that it would be a backward step to take them off in the name of 'correctness'

Regards
Glen

G'day zulu Delta 534

My, you are a sly one, didn't know about "Daisy" nice looking vehicle it is too, and you have done a magnificant job on "Onslow" they are a nice matching pair, and I agree with the decision not to remove the booster, as you will need it with all the drivers on the road,
we hopefully will see one at the B.B.Q would look nice parked up ahead of the F1 of Bill's, you will have to keep them under lock and key, now that Hodgo has got himself a toy you know what those Transport types are like

cheers
