Nice work Stuart. What's the purpose of the cavity in the tailgate?

G'day rar110

The tailgate was used to carry some of the crew members field packs and webbing. It was thought that by having this equipment at the rear of the vehicle, it would be easier to access whilst under enemy fire. They could grab their gear and use the vehicle as protection at the same time.

This idea was made redundant when the packs were stored within the ROPS bar.

Regards
Stuart

I wish to take this opportunity to thank all the AULRO and REMLR members that have shown interest in and supported my LRPV restoration threads over the last three years or so

Thanks also to the members that have supported me during this tumultuous time

It's now time to take my LRPVs somewhere else

Anyone wishing to contact me can do so here

Stuart

Will be a loss to the the depth and breadth of forum if you do browse other pastures.

But do drop back and see us from time to time if you can!

Personally I will miss your input!

Hells bells! There is no reason to bugger off just because I never commented on your LRPV restorations although I did read them with much interest.

Yes fascinating and interesting read. One of my most favourite threads on Aulro.
History, Heritage, a dash of intrigue and of course Land Rovers.

Thanks for sharing Stuart -it would be great if you could rejoin us in the future even if only for a brief update. (and pics)

I'll look out for LRPV 180-899 in future parades/shows.

Thanks for saving (finding?) her.
