LRPV 180-899

G'day Everyone

Just a quick hello to let members know that another LRPV has been found and rescued

LRPV 180-899 was located recently by REMLR member Cliffy after chasing up a hunch. I have since purchased the vehicle and should recover it in the coming weeks.

180-899 is a late S2A model. One of only two that I know of that were used by the SASR. The other being 179-500. This LRPV came from a Mid West cattle station and was recently trucked down by it's previous owner for use on their farm east of Perth.

This LRPV is in remarkable condition. It is operational and has been left untouched mechanically. It is completely rust free (thanks to the dry conditions on the station), has very straight panels (apart from minor reversing damage to the rear) and retains nearly all of it's original equipment including PSP mat holders on brush bar, Banford winch to name a few. It even retains it's camouflaged rims and tyres. The camo paint can still be seen on the tyres which would suggest that the LRPV saw little use on the station. The green paint has been applied whilst on the station. The paint seems to be water based and a quick rub with cleaning solution has shown that it could possibly be removed without damage to the original SASR paintwork underneath.
The ROPS bar is a strange mod as it has been removed from a very early LRPV and installed on this one. The soft top looks to be original but I am yet to confirm this. I am chasing up the station owner to see if the spare wheel side bar mount and side steps may still be lying around.

Anyway, enjoy the pix

Regards
Stuart (aka Tommy)

These pix are of 180-899 as found (on a very wet and cold afternoon)

These pix were taken after I had cleaned out the LRPV and made it more presentable.
