G'day All, Good find Wayne, apart from a toymota radiator extra ?fuel filter mounted on the b/head, something extra in dash lhs, and either a complete engine change or it's a later model engine than the original, and it's olive drab repaint it that colour, it's soooo easy LOL cheers Dennis
love the tin top, it reminded me of Wee-Wullies, it came from VBFB the canvas would have been too much of a fire risk, hence a tin top

So that would be a Holden engine. They used to be painted red! Mine is anyway!

Outstanding find Wayne

For a 50 year old vehicle, she certainly looks in pretty good nick. A quick hose down and coat of paint and whallaahhh, all done

BTW, does this mean that you are diversifying into other types of ex mil Landies or is this just a 'one off/couldn't say no' purchase

Its nice to own the Fire Engines, but with there rar-ity and some times afraid to take them off road, hense the reason been looking for a IIa Shorty Ex Army (but as we all know not alot around - and what is they want allot for)

This one came along at the right price - and in fairly good condition for a vehicle 50 years old.

All the best

Wayne.

G'day Ellard

Nice find and an early one too 143900313, the 312th built ifor the 1959 year, and from Contract C104337 the first contract 16-12-58 with delivery in early 59, it is good to see that it still has the original horn/dipper stalk, the flasher switch is also still on the right dash panel where originally fitted the original engine that my 2a GS came with was painted dark red, used to be the way that reco motors were painted by various BOD's or outside sourced workshops so they were traceable if there was defective workmanship

Very nice original condition find ARN 110-852 Eng 151908781

cheers

G'day All, Wayne, the only Red I can see is on the breather for the rocker cover, the rest from the pix is dust n rust LOL. (the bloodbox engine was Red also, it was a ? Thomastown Victoria rebuild, cant remember the company name)
The blinker/trafficator switch is not original, (and it's upside down as well) thats just a single pole double throw switch, you will need to source a switch off a Austin Healy ?3000, you know the 6 cyl version of the Sprite LOL, anyway besides all that crap it's still a good n straight find and I might say in much better nick than S2 C/R "as found" mine was almost a basket case, I have since found out that mine was purchased in the early 70's and was taken to Carinda NSW (outback Nth western NSW) as a shooting buggy, it was bashed about and neglected for the best part of it's life, it's amazing what you can acheive if you do a total strip down n rebuild, anyway mate it's yours (soon) so you can what suits you best anyway cheers Dennis
ps mine is ARN 110-850, chassis 143900344, so there was no methodical processes in place when dish'n out ARN's LOL
pps mine has the original donk as well,,.

I can detect a degree of sarcasm in your post Dennis but just to be on the safe side in case you are 'deadly serious' and in need of a new set of bi-focals....what about the oil filler pipe breather, the thermostat bypass pipe and the head

Stuart
