Protec paint in cans

Has been a few questions about paint in cans, bought these today at my local Protec shop, about $17.50 each.

Check the use by date Scotty as they only have a short shelf life (one year I think) before paint starts to go off. Make sure you turn can upside down after use and spray clean the nozzle as it will block up pretty badly if you don't .

Thanks Rusty, Sept 2012 expiry so still a little life left in them.

Sure beats setting up the spray gun then all the clean up afterwards!

ps it took me a year to convince the Protec agent that Protec do actually sell this paint in spray cans - pays to be persistant.

Regards
Scott

The paint is still fine to use after the shelf life has expired as long as it has been kept sealed in an air tight container. As with all military paint and POL (petrol, oil and lubricant) they are all given a SHELF LIFE and BATCH LOT NUMBER for traceability and quality reasons. When some product has reached it shelf life date it can be returned to the supplier, tested and re dated to be returned to the system. There is a lot of product waisted each year due to this especially in aviation. So don't throw out your paint and oil just because it's out of date as you might as well throw your hard earns money in the bin.
Cheers
Rod
