As with all military paint and POL (petrol, oil and lubricant) they are all given a SHELF LIFE and BATCH LOT NUMBER for traceability and quality reasons. When some product has reached it shelf life date it can be returned to the supplier, tested and re dated to be returned to the system. There is a lot of product waisted each year due to this especially in aviation. So don't throw out your paint and oil just because it's out of date as you might as well throw your hard earns money in the bin.
